Stayed here from Dec 7 to 11 for business. Clean, efficient and helpful. Breakfast is excellent, chinese, japanese & western. We had a room facing the back, so it's nice and quiet. It's only 2 blocks from the bus stop coming in from the JR station, and the subway entrance is right outside the hotel, super convenient. If you are... More

This hotel was an old one, i think they are renovating so i can't wait until they are done but this is a very convenient location when you are in kyoto. There are a lot of eateries near by and even a convenience store. if you wanted you can walk to the temples, me and my sister ended up doing... More

Stayed here again on my 2nd visit to Kyoto. Right next to train station exit! 5-8mins walk to Kawaramachi shopping street and Nishiki market. Facilities were great and pretty roomy for a double room. You can get the tourist day bus pass for 600yen here too

I have mixed feelings about this property. On the one hand, the rooms are spacious but very dated with faded, stained carpet and furniture and fixtures that look like they have not changed since the 1980s - which really alludes to a management team that is complacent about the property and figure they can coast along on deals with agents.... I booked a room as part of the Shinkansen package. It's the most basic kind and I knew well in advance Karasuma is just a kind of a "budget" hotel, since I didn't have to pay for much. To my surprise, the offered me the the very top floor, a corner room, so I could have a panoramic view of... More

This was our second stop in Japan after Osaka. The hotel is located close to one of the metro stops. There are plenty of shops and restaurants around. Again it's good for exporing the area (around Kyoto). This hotel had a pc from which you could print (I think it was a us style keyboard so a few keys were... More

We have the very same experiences as mentioned in the reviews from other guests. The free use of internet in the lobby functioned very well. Easy to find our way around with the subway, buses, good restaurants and shopping close to the hotel. Small room and bathroom though as in many places in Japan.

Very helpful staff all round, some could understand a bit of English which was helpful, security box behind counter. Very clean which is a must. Was quiet, as a side room. Although is getting old was good value for money. Good hot water and room was warm, handwashing dried overnight. Small room was ok for one as not in room... More

We arrived in Kyoto on the Shinkansen, the hotel is right by Shijo station so it was really easy to get to. The staff were friendly and had decent English. The Starbucks downstairs was very nice, and the hotels bakery has a nice selection. There are some decent restaurants close by, but it is also close to a good shopping... More
