While the rooms were disappointingly small, the beds hard and you had to go outside the bathroom to change your mind, the staff were really really helpful. Starbucks in foyer, across the road from subway - perfect for being a tourist. Breakfast is probably better somewhere else more

Located north of Kyoto station, the Karasuma Hotel is a good base for sightseeing as it is quite in the center of all attractions. The standard rooms are very spacious and put other japanese, but also englisch and dutch rooms to shame. Breakfast is rather uncharming but extensive, front desk and room service are the usual high standard in Japan. more

First of all I must say that we got this hotel half price through Expedia and that is why it has got this mark for value. Got more than we expected.Hotel quite dated but unbeatable sincere service from staff at reception and excellent location along one of Kyoto's main streets- we literally walked everywhere.
