Please do me one favour: Don’t make the same mistake! I booked this ryokan, because it was quite cheap and there was no other hotel offered in this price range for this period of time. Actually I read all the reviews of former guests, but I thought it couldn’t be that bad. But this really was a huge mistake. The... More

We had the same experiencecas the couple with ghe long rewiew before us. Pouring rain, end of December, late at night we arrived at this so called "Ryokan". The entrance looked shabby, dirty and not welcoming at all. The frlnt desk lady covered in several coats, hats and jackets spoke no English at all. Insisted to pay first, we were... More

I am not a big reviewer, but I do not want any other foreign traveler to experience what my wife and I went through. It was our first trip to Japan and we loved everything about it. Our reservation experience and the Ryokan Ohto inn keeper was our only negative moment. In a country that is so respectful and kind,... More

we arrived and found out that they overbooked two rooms. I had to share a room with another person and two other people had to stay in a room with no bathroom. (originally we paid for a room with a bathroom.) One night no water coming from anywhere. We could not flash toilets or take shower. No where to find... More

Stayed here for three nights with husband and teenage son. Room was perfectly sized for us and had a little balcony also. Bathroom was a tight squeeze but adequate. It is well located just off the main tourist drag but connections are close by. Enjoyed eating in the neighbourhood cafés and restaurants and used the laundromat. Owner was reserved but... More

This is a reasonable, well located ryokan. Don't expect anything fancy. The bathroom and toilet are down the hall, the walls are paper thin and our room had no window. Nonetheless, we stayed there for 4 nights in September and have few regrets. It is on a subway line and a busy bus line. It is close to the train... More

A bit of a walk from Kyoto Station but not unbareable. Got lost getting here, very turned around once we got out of the station. But once we figured out where it was it was easy getting around and getting situated. There are a ton of Ryokans in Kyoto and all the best ones get taken right away so I... More

This was a pretty respectable place to stay in Kyoto for the price! Location: Near Shichijo Station which is convenient for getting around! It's on a side street off the main street so might take some time finding. Service: Check in was acceptable. Usually no one at the counter, and sometime we see them sleeping at the back. Decor: Was... More

Bottom line: two relatively sleepless nights… although defendants of this establishment might claim some residuals of jetlag influenced the minimal REM. The room itself was clean & basic – tatami floor & a small table, with a shared bathroom & toilet. The issue was that the walls had no acoustic insulation: any sound, inside the hotel as well as external,... More

I spent here 4 nights with my family, during our kyoto visit. I was a bit worried, since I red these reviews before we arrived to Kyoto, but we had absolutely no problems. The lady was really nice, and liked our daughter much. Only minus was my own fault when I was so tired that I paid too much (4000... More
