Comfortable and clean room; typically Japanese - small but with most conveniences travelers require. Convenient to nearby station and a Lawsons. Breakfast was not great and as usual the staff had little English and so were not able to help.

Location excellent, just 2 minutes from station. Lawson store at opposite. Room is clean. Fronk desk staff speak good English. Self money exhange machine is available. Bath towels are clean. We have no hesitation to recommend it to anyone.

We enjoyed our 4 days at Hearton. The staff were pleasant, and the food good. The beds were relatively soft for Japan too! The metro is only a few minutes away, and there's plenty of nearby convenience stores and restaurants. For anime nerds, the manga museum is just round the corner.

Clean hotel, spacious room for Japanese standards. Excellent location near a subway station and within a good walk of the castle.Breakfast offers Western and Japanese options. It is located near an area with many different kinds of restaurants.

If there was a 3.5 option I would give it. The truth is the hotel itself is nothing special, but it happens to be in a great location. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Also, I would highly recommend the Japanese breakfast, it was delicious. The Western buffet was okay, but nothing to write home about. I would recommend... More

We were quite happy to check in to our room at the Hearton. It was out third hotel of our stay in Japan and our nicest so far. The room was spacious for a Japanese hotel and very clean. It had all the things you would need for a one or multiple night stay including washing machine and dryer, toiletries... More

The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were quite small but functional, and the breakfast was a delightful buffet with a nice variety of foods to satisfy both Eastern and Western tastes. This hotel may appear to be a budget hotel for business travelers, but the price was significantly higher than that. Strength - Staff. Weaknesses - price... More

Small but functional hotel in a quiet but accessible area. Just a short walk to Karasumaoike station. Reception was friendly and helpful too. Airport limousine from KIX will stop right in front of the station (but do check that you board the correct coach). Would recommend it if you just need a place to lay your head at night.

We stayed here in November and I would consider this a typical Japanese business hotel. The room was clean but modest. The rates are very favorable. I was somewhat concerned that when booking this hotel, the rate was due up front. All was well and this may be common practice. The hotel looks to cater to tours and business clientele.If... More

Staying in City Center

Neighborhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
