Locating this hotel took a bit of challenge since it is situated at the side of the main Shijo road. You will first be greeted by the Family Mart which is just opposite the hotel before you can actually find the inconspicuous hotel entrance. The hotel which is 10 min away from Karasuma & Shijo subway stations is a bit... More

As always it was me and my wife on our world travels :) We booked this property because almost all the other hotels in the same budget or a little more were either sold out cause of the peak season or they were too expensive for us. We weren't expecting luxury but neither were we expecting this. The Hotel building... More

Good hotel and I disagree with many of the reviews about lack of english and no wifi. The hotel has obviously paid attention to trip advisor as they have wifi and the front desk offered good help in basic english. Washing facilities are easy to use. Very handy to ATM machine, bus stops for all the sites of Kyoto. Good... More

We chose this hotel for the location. At the beginning of April we were only in Kyoto for two days so we wanted to get the maximum out of it without travelling too much (between the hotel/station and sightseeing spots). The Court Hotel is a 10min bus ride (bus number 50 that leaves from the Kyoto bus station), you can... More

We stayed at this hotel for one night, in a double bed room (2 beds, a grade above the twin bed room) and it turned out to be the saving grace. Glad to leave. Not for any other reason - except that we felt claustrophobic and cramped- 2 adults and a infant. The rooms were clean but real tiny, beds... More

Court Hotel Shijo wasn't my first choice, but because we had a last minute adjustment of dates, the original places I wanted to book were fully booked out. And we didn't want to stay in a $3-400 a night hotel or ryokan so we turned to somewhere more affordable. Court Hotel Shijo is functional and pleasant, but the location is... More

We stayed there at the end of April, we had more things we disliked: the bathroom was really small, looked more like a claustrophobic toilet capsule that you would place on a small space shuttle... Stuff spoke almost no English... No WiFi. Hotel was reasonably clean however the building was looking quite old and it was rather poorly maintained. Would... More

We stayed at Court Hotel Shijo for four days in August. It was a nice hotel, very well located to easily reach all attractions by public transportation. However, first it was difficult to find and then the hotel's staff wouldn't speak much English which wasn't helpful at all. It was difficult to get basic information from them. The room was... More

The bathrooms are smaller than the one you'd find on a plane, the bed is made of rock, the air conditioning is set at 25°. It's like a seventies flashback. The shower head is at shoulder level and only trickles out. We were booked for three nights but after staying one we checked out and drove north. I don't recommend... More
