This hotel allowed for the best sleep I have had in a while - the mattresses and and the pillows were just perfect. So was sound isolation. Very tranquil stay. The property is within 10 minutes easy walk from the main train station, so the location is very convenient on all counts. Breakfast is, while somewhat pricey (JPY 1800/day/head), is... More

We stayed here for four nights and loved absolutely every second. The location is a five minute walk from Kyoto Station and the front desk staff is armed with plenty of maps and recommendations, as well as good English. The rooms are immaculate, spacious and well stocked. There is a free public bath/spa on the second floor that we used... More

Very nice hotel, staff is a bit rigid, but very efficient. Beds are excellent, and everything in the room is made to help you - phones charges available, excellent Wifi, Air cleaner, LAN cable, Air co working. Bathroom a bit small though. Location is ok.

A quiet location away from the bustle and sounds of the city. Bicycle is highly recommended to get around in Kyoto. The restaurants usually require diners to make prior reservation. Very good local restaurants everywhere. Go in April for good weather.

Was here for 2 nights only. The rooms were clean and comfortable, but we were not in the room most of the time, so the size was ok. Service was helpful when asking for directions. I like having the public bath house in the hotel and the women bath requires a PIN to enter :) The location is not too... More

Location was ok, around 15 mins walk from the main subway station. We stayed there for one night. Room was decent sized for Japanese hotel standard. Check in and out was smooth but no late check out when we requested. The most disappointing part was the service. We are a frequent traveller and have stayed at many hotels, from budget... More

We needed to initially use a taxi to get to this place from the main station but after that we could walk there easily. Day trips from the main station around Kyoto were easy from this neat hotel. The room was clean, warm and all that we needed. Wifi worked great. Staff were always ready to say hello and to... More

Receptionists were friendly and personable. Greeted guests whenever we enter the hotel. Can't remember his name, but one of the receptionist that served us both times during check-in and check-out provided great service - He was patient with us, answering our queries and went the extra mile to help us locate a map of a hike that we were interested... I was for business a few days in Japan (near Tokyo) and had 2 days free. Decided in the morning to go to Kyoto: last minute booking seemed to be incorrect when i checked-in (my fault) but the receptionist corrected this and I got easily a room for 2 days. I was impressed by the room size. And although it... More

Staying in Southern Kyoto

Neighborhood Profile
Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens, temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers, picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the mountain's off-set paths aren't frequented by tourists, and the mountain's serenity can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Southern Kyoto is the place to enjoy being outside, and to pay your respects to the ancient architecture and gods of the land that are celebrated here.
