Stayed here for 2 nights. It's not a bad hotel. Their bathrooms were small and not well ventilated but at least the rooms did not smell like smoke. Other hotels we've been at did smell like smoke even though we requested non-smoking rooms. The reception desk was friendly and had no issues checking in or out. They did speak enough... More

I stayed at the hotel sunroute for 3 nights in January 2015. After some initial problems finding it (due to my ignorance of the japan public transport system), I arrived early (around 11am), but pleasingly, was told I was able to get into my room early (a god send after a long haul flight). The sunroute is in a great... More

Been traveling through Japan for 2 weeks now and I absolutely fell in love with this hotel. It is clean, the location is great and it has everything within reach. We were able to do our laundry. The rooms are quite big, even though we had the small 2person room with a small bed. Note: we are tall Europeans! Even... More

We stayed at the Sunroute for three nights before starting a tour of Shikoku and another two nights on our return. At first glance the location didn't greatly impress but, actually, it isn't far from quite a lot of places you will want to visit. A short walk from Gion and the biggest department stores, a longer walk to the... More

Stayed for four nights from 4th November 2014, An excellent location on the edge of the Gion district. About a 1000 yen taxi ride from the main railway station. All the staff we encountered were very helpful. The best breakfast choice (western and Japanese) that we encountered during our 2+ week tour through Honshu and Kyushu. After exhausting tourist visits... More

The hotel is located on one of the good shopping streets and close to shopping arcades and the Nikishi market. The metro is also close by. The reception is on the second floor, which is a bit irritating when you arrive. Rooms are small but spotlessly clean and well equipped. Same applies to bathroom. Service was warm hearted and outstanding.... More

Hotel situated on the main road downtown Kyoto. A few blocks from Takashimaya Department store. A few steps from GION. Surrounding by nice restaurants. And some attractions are in the walking distance. The hotel itself is a bit old but still functioning well. Room are old but more space than the usual Japanese hotels. Hotel provide free internet access only... More

We stayed here four nights on our second trip to Kyoto and this is the best position for walking to Gion, shopping district, niski markets, eastern hills, shrines, philosophers walk etc. Taxi from station cost around $9 and took under 10 mins. Bus stop is right out front and randomly caught this a few times to shops etc. Buy a... More

I stayed this hotel one month ago for 3 nights. The hotel location is good, it was close to Kyoto station (8 min. by car) and some historical and touristic places like Gion and Higashiyama Area (Kiyomizudera is 20 min. by walking). There is a bus stop (Kawaramachi Matsubara, Bus No:4, 17 and 205) in front of the hotel. Also... More

Good service & location, near a bus stop, main attractions, shops, & bus stop. Upon request while booking with expedia, they had given me a room with the most amazing view of the river & hills, & I was lucky to view the beautiful river, sunrise & sunset each day. A walk away from Yasaka shrine, & Kiyomizudera temple. Only... More
