The location of the hotel is very convenient to get to from the train station. We took the bus 17 or 205 (preferably 17 as 205 is usually crowded). We had two big suitcases but it was okay for us to haul these into the bus. The ticket costs 230 Yen per person and it takes around 14 mins from... More

We booked the smaller room with a double bed (120cm). The double bed is not the standard queen size bed, I would described it as slightly bigger than a super-single bed. Room amenities are very well equipped and if you need more, it's provided at an area in front of the reception. 2 bottles of water are provided daily. It's... More

Stayed here for 3 nights. The location is unbeatable. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are very spacious, especially for Japan. The washroom was clean and modern like all Japanese bathrooms seem to be. Those are the pros. The hotel itself is old and the general condition is indicative of that. The ventilation is poor. The rooms could... More

Stayed here for a few nights over NYE. Prices were pretty crazy but that's just peak season and can't really blame them. Room was ok. Clean, tidy, small (it's Japan after all) and bathroom was the normal plastic cladded cubicle with standard outfit. Buffet breakfast was ok but not outstanding. All up ok place in good location, nothing really wrong... More

We had a double room and were quite happy about it. Based on Japanese standard and for the price we paid, the size is not bad at all. Our room was clean, with comfortable decor. Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel is within walking distance of subway and Nishiki market and right on the bus route to the Kyoto Imperial... More

It is within walking distance to Shijo where there are many shoppings, food..etc there is also a bus stop right in front of the hotel which you could hop on the bus to Kyoto station if you are lazy to walk or is carrying... A business oriented hotel but with an excellent location, small but fully equipped rooms with every possible amenity( typical of Japanese hotels ) friendly and helpful front desk staff, fourth stop from Kyoto railway station on bus 4,17 and others ...get off at Kawaramachi Matsubara stop, and to go to the station, the bus stop is right in front of... I guess it depends how much you paid for your room when you reserve. Clean, good facilities, central location. It's family friendly. There are lockers downstairs if you arrive early or need to wait a few hours after checkout like me. The staff are rather attentive. There is a bus stop right in front of the hotel that will take... Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighborhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
