An excellent experience at Watazen Ryokan. Very clean, nice bath and a really precise service. The location is just fine. Very close to the local market. Food quality was outstanding. Merci beaucoup, très belle expérience!

A very nice ryokan where we can enjoy Japanese hospitality and relax in onsen. Great Japanese breakfast is served at the dinning room for 1000 Yen. The room was spacious enough for 4 persons even with futon set-up. All facilities can be found around.

Me and my family stayed at Watazen Ryokan for 2 nights in summer. We booked Japanese Style Room for 5people. Hotel location isn't really hard to find by using Google Maps. The building was looked old from the outside but the inside was really comfortable. Upon our arrival, the staff gave us a warm welcome by giving a prize drawing.... More

Kyoto Watazen Ryokan exceeded my expectations. Great location in a quiet neighborhood, within walking distance of the Nishiki food market, main shopping street Shijo-dori, metro stations and a number of restaurants. To get there from Kyoto Station with the greatest ease, make sure you have a printout (in Japanese) with the hotel address to show the taxi drivers. Once you've... More

I stayed at Watazen Ryokan this month, and I was extremely surprised by the quality of their service. The staff came to my room and made me green tea when I checked in, and they offered green tea to people in the lobby. The USD$10 Japanese breakfast was probably the best I had in my Japan trip, again with impeccable... More

We stayed here for a couple of nights in order to experience a traditional ryokan. The hotel was fairly easy to find (it's just down the street from the YMCA) and in a great location in a really picturesque part of town within walking distance of a a subway station, a great market and Nijo castle. There are also some... More

Upon arrival we entered a prize draw game and won some free bits which was a lovely welcome touch! Shown to our room, loads of advice from the staff on things to do, places to eat, and friendly service. We chose a traditional room and it was our first stay in a Ryokan and it was exactly what we were... More

Our one-night stay at Watazen was very relaxing and comfortable and was a great way to have some quiet time and a traditional Japanese accommodtion experience in the middle of our hectic nine-day holiday to Japan. The service was outstanding, room and facilities very comfortable and meals delicious. The location of Watazen was the first thing that impressed us on... More

This was my first stay at a Ryokan and it was exactly what I was hoping for and expecting. The location was in a quiet part of town that you could walk around in and enjoy the culture.
