This hotel is located centrally in Kyoto, within easy walking distance to shops and the wonderful restaurants along the Pontocho. The 17th floor restaurant has phenomenal views over the Kamo River. While we found the beds a little hard, the room was comfortable and spacious and the scrupulously clean lavatory offered both a bath and stand-alone shower. We also were... More

It's not cheap but for your money you get a large room (at least by Japanese standards), a great view, perfect wifi and good facilities. Also, the location is great for exploring the city. Just keep in mind that restaurants in this neighborhood are rather expensive.

This hotel is in a very nice location. ( It is within walking distance of Nishiki market which is wonderful to visit with all the food shops, restaurants and clothing stores.) Rooms are spacious by Japan standards. The lobby is your typical western large spread out area with all the conveniences. There are lots of shops on the lower level... More

We stayed on the 8th floor in a std dbl in March 2015. NB Significantly if you click on any reviews less than V Good the most recent is June 2014. To update/correct some negative points of reviewers ... There IS free Wi Fi in rooms and Lobby. There are 2 bars (though the top floor one only from 20.30).... More

Stayed 2 nights at this beautiful. When checking in we were told we had been upgraded to 16th floor rooms. We had a separate lounge room and bedroom with 2 Hugh beds. Automatic drapes and curtains, piped music and coffee machine. Beautiful lobby and restaurants. Rooms immaculate and spacious. I could not fault this hotel in any area, highly recommend.... More

Direct access to a subway station from the Hotel basement, quick and efficient check in, a clean, spacious and comfortable room and all the features of a four star hotel. There are several restaurants and cafes in the hotel and plenty close by. Access to the innumerable attractions of Kyoto is easy by subway, taxi or on foot.

Stayed at the Kyoto Okura by accident when we had to make a change to our original reservations at the Westin Kyoto. Had reservations about staying at a Japanese hotel since we heard the rooms are on the small size even in the higher class properties. We were pleasently surprised when we checked into our two twin rooms and found... More

This was the second time that we have stayed at this wonderful hotel. It has an old world upscale charm with impecable service provided by their friendly staff. Add to this their fabulous restaurants that would make your mouth water.

We booked a non-smoking double for three nights, and on check-in were upgraded to Okura's club floor. It was splendid. Public spaces were immaculate and beautiful. The staff spoke exceptional English, and walked us through all the features of the room after taking our luggage up. The room was around 30% bigger than a standard room I experienced at Okura's... Loved everything about our three night stay here in winter. All the staff were so incredibly helpful and their English was good. The lobby was beautiful and grand. Our room was huge with two very comfortable king single beds, table, lounge and chair. The bathroom was very nice with every conceivable amenity. We could even watch CNN news in English... More
