I traveled to Kyoto with my mother and brother and found this hotel online. I'd read the reviews on TripAdvisor which led me to believe this would be a great choice for our stay in Kyoto. Once again, the TripAdvisor reviews didn't let me down. The location is excellent, there's an entrance to the hotel from the subway station it... more

futuristic corridors....other decor I can't even put into words, you'll have top see it and understand. For an artists it's a dream come true: wonderful theaters, with shifting platroms, shopping arcades and other facilities in Act City are in their own closed off world...it's wonderful, they really have a way with their architechtural designs -- not so much the beauty... more

This was a beautiful hotel, the rooms were large and exactly what I had hoped for. The lobby was beautiful. Good location to the Gion district. Clearly a favorite of the Japanese as I saw few westerners. I will stay here the next time I go to Kyoto. more

We really enjoyed our four night stay at the Okura. We were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded from a standard twin room to a deluxe corner room which was huge. Very friendly bell hop and reception staff. We thought the hotel breakfast was a bit expensive so opted to eat at the local bakeries instead. The only disappointing thing was... more

In short, we were satisfied with every aspect of our stay at hotel Okura. The breakfast buffet is an amazing spread of Western and Asian fare, with a nice view to go along with it. The room- by Japanese standards- was better than most, but the service, restaurants (especially), and professionalism were very impressive. The location was a plus as... more

In a prior trip to Kyoto, I had read in envy the reviews about the Kyoto Hotel Okura on Tripadvisor. Little did I know, several years later, that I would end up being one of the many to speak its praises! We stayed there for 1d/1n as a part of a tour group through Kansai. We were definitely very excited... more

This was not the experience we were hoping for in Kyoto. After the amazing Peninsula in Tokyo, perhaps we were expecting too much, but Hotel Okura really did not impress in any way. It's a very average hotel. Really boring cheap-looking decor, really basic amenities, pretty bad service (useless concierge, rude front desk staff - but their motto is "service... more

Had a wonderful 4 days in Cherry Blossom season. Everyone we met in hotel could not do enough - superb service and wonderfully relaxing to return to after a hectic but lovely walk around the temples and major sights. Given a beautiful corner room, beds were excellent and room spotlessly clean. I loved the origami cranes left on our table... more

We stayed in the Okura for 3 days with two teenage children. The experience was excellent - spacious modern room, large bathroom, comfortable beds, and wonderful gracious service throughout our stay. The hotel location is also very good - close to the river and the City hall, walking distance from Gion and the shopping district, plenty of restaurants nearby, 10... more
