Let me just be honest. There is no compromise in quality assurance for Japanese. When we arrived at Kyoto Okura Hotel, I saw the banner addressing 125th anniversary. The hotel looks really well maintained. Kudos to the team. The room is spacious and whatever is required for a traveler (business or leisure), everything is provided. Breakfast is on the roof... Super access to subway, the riverside bars and restaurants. Major shopping corridor of 4th strret is only a 6 minute stroll. Hotel is filled with old world classic charm. Very clean, and safe. The bath linens were a bit sparse and not as many as I'd prefer (only 1 bath towel ,hand towel, and face cloth per person).

This hotel was the best that I have stayed at in Kyoto(in 3 visits) , in terms of convenience, location and the number of staff who were eager to help. Located directly on top of a subway station, 10 minutes (leisurely) walk from the Geisha district of Gion, and within an even shorter walk of MANY great restaurants, this place... More

Hotel Okura in Kyoto is one of the most expensive hotels we are staying in this trip. It's well positioned and the room and facilities are pleasant. The staff are absolutely outstanding; the most courteous, friendly and helpful that we have ever experienced in our travels anywhere. I would absolutely stay here again without hesitation. The only negative is that,... More

The Okura may have the best location in town, just a block from the river, with easy access to Pontocho, Gion, and the shopping arcade. The room was very comfortable, with a view of the river. The air conditioning system worked well. The restaurants are excellent for teppan-yaki or traditional Japanese food. Buffet breakfast was good, although there was a line-up... More

A spectacular reception floor with a magnificent wide staircase leading to the first floor. Numerous staff on hand only too happy to assist. Bedroom was large, clean and well appointed with a beautiful modern bathroom with a large shower cabinet. The breakfast room on the top floor offered superb views and an equally excellent breakfast. Hotel ideally located for shopping... More

Celebrating its 125th year, this is a historic hotel and the grandeur is apparent. Rooms are large, service is excellent and nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff. Location is one block from the river, and everything was gorgeous in cherry blossom season. Breakfast spread was decent, and the restaurant has great views over the city and... More

This was our favorite of the three hotels we stayed in during our recent Japan trip. The lobby is old world grandeur and the rooms were American-style large and comfortable (we had booked Superior Twins) with superb bathrooms and lovely Eastern views. The location was terrific, with plenty of restaurants and nightlife within walking distance, and a subway stop (and... More

Clean, smart. Breakfast buffet was not special. But the view from dining was very nice. If it have been sunny, the view would have been perfect... Above all, What i want to say, their concierge was very good. They recommended a good and new Japanese restaurant. This is the proof that they up-date town information always.
