I stayed for 3 nights with my bf last year and its location was fantastic. The room was bit small but It was acceptable. In addition, breakfast was also good. I will go there in Mar this year again with my parents.

This place is great in the middle of Gion. It is within walking distance to the many attractions in Gion including several temples and the night walking tour starting location. In dire need of refurbishment. Wallpaper peeling off the wall, cracked plastic in the bathroom... On the plus side, clean and an amazing location if you really don't have any time and need to be right in the middle of Gion.

Room a little small - not enough room to move in the batheroom but clean and comfortable - excellent breakfast - friendly service - ecologically sound and cheap (A$75 per person) - in the heart of Kyoto.

This hotel is in need of a make over. It has an old and run-down appearance. Rooms/bathroom is extremely small. Although the location is close to many sights/shops. As others have said the location is indeed good. I recommend you get the 500 yen daily bus pass at the reception desk. There is a laundry round the corner a couple of streets down.
