Other ones hairs had been laid on the bathroom. Cigarette smell had been too bad since no vent is equipped with rooms. Thus you should check the room throuly before you agree the room. And open the window and turn on the air conditioner to clean the air and smell. The fare was the same as westin during holiday season.... More

We stayed for two nights in April and loved the location, but like a lot of other people found the rooms just a bit too small. The staff were really nice and the hotel was clean. Aside from the tiny rooms, the hotel doesn't turn the air conditioning on in April, so if you are like me and feel the... More

Yes, it's in a great location for exploring the many delights of Gion, the old quarter of Kyoto, and it's also within walking distance of the city centre. The staff have limited English but they do try hard to please. The breakfast buffet is average with the "hot" dishes only just warm. But the rooms are clean and comfortable, although... More

Spent a night here in late March while visiting Kyoto First off there isn't anything 'wrong' with this hotel, it has a good location and rooms were clean and fairly well appointed. My only gripes were the room (and specifically the bathroom) sizes were very small - basically room for the double bed and then about 2ft next to it.... More

I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights for the New Year. I booked a twin room and it was comfortable and clean for 2 people. The room was clean everyday and we had a good view of the shrine. The location was very good and near to the bus stops, restaurants and convenience store.

I stayed here for four nights in October 2012. I had booked a single room but ended up with a twin which was handy. The beds were comfy and it was generally clean and quiet. The bathroom was small but perfectly kitted out including a shower and bath. The best thing about this place though is the location. Shijo Dori... More

We like walking around Gion in a leisurely way, and this hotel is in a great location to do that. It's close to Yasaka shrine and within walking distance to Kyomizudera. Pontocho ("Memoir of a Geisha") is nearby as well as lots of shops. The staff is friendly and helpful, breakfast plentiful. Rooms are on the small size, beds and... More

Stayed 3 nights in November. Booked a single room but was given a twin with view of hills. For about 8000 Yen/night, in peak maple leave season, no complaints. Fantastic location just off Yasaka Shrine on Shijo Dori, with all of Gion at your door step. Walking distance to Kodai-ji, Shoren-in, Kiyomizu-dera...etc. Plenty of public transport as well, if you... More

It's almost the peak of the autumn leaves season, which meant I had very limited choice of hotels in Kyoto. I was lucky to find Apa Hotel Gion. Part of the Japanese Apa chain, the hotel was neat, clean and small. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was small, although not as small as in some of... More
