It's nice and convenient. It's all that we need. The staff are helpful and friendly. I enjoyed the nearness this hotel with shops and attractions. I really recommend this hotel for first time travelers who like to be practical.. Enjoyed every bit of it

Very satisfied with my recent stay at Kyoto Central Inn! It was directly beside Starbucks (the best matcha in town and our daily boost!) and Kawaramachi subway station. There is a Kyoto tourist information inside the subway with very friendly english-speaking personnel to assist tourists. And their help was precise! :) Getting to the sightseeing places with little or zero... More

Surprisingly good laocation.Within on minute walk from the Shijyokawaramachi crossing,no other hotels are located better than this hotel. Just on the Kawaramachi Station of Hankyu Line, taking train is very easy, and the hotel being along Shijyo Street that is the most important street for sightseeing, you can take many routes of bus.Shijyokawaramachi is the center of Kyoto, so there are... I stayed at Kyoto Central Inn for three nights and the experience was all positive. For a single traveller, my room was big enough. The bathroom was clean, so was the bed. A great plus for travelers is the possibility to use the laundry at anytime of the day for free. All staff I dealt with were very friendly and... More

We went to visit Kyoto with my gf and we stayed in this hotel. We enjoyed our stay.location is excellent central location but we have little difficulty in finding the hotel at first. Entrance(lobby) on the 2nd floor next to Starbucks. Rooms are clean and cozy for me but no soundproofing. About bathroom; fairly small according to western. All you need... More

nice and close to the Gion District, the intersection is frequented by buses going to various tourist destinations (just use google maps) The nearest train station is on a private line so if you're arriving from Kyoto Station you'll need the transfer ticket. I'd recommend just getting a taxi for 1000 Yen, please save yourself the trouble, unless you're solo... More

Dated rooms but spotlessly clean and comfortable enough for a stay in Kyoto. Fantastic location right near Takashimaya department store and right on the main shopping street of Shijo-Kawaramachi. Very friendly and helpful staff make this hotel a great place to stay as a cheaper option in Kyoto but in the best location. Recommended

Hotel is right above Hankyu Railway lines with direct trains to Osaka or Arashiyama and had Loads of bus stops near it. It s also directly opposite Takashimaya and loads of other shops and covered walking streets near it. For people who like Starbucks, its on the GF of the hotel. Taking a taxi from Kyoto station would be the... More

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighborhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
