This backpacker's inn rivaled some of the pricier franchised hotels. Each room came with two beds, the breakfast was affordable with a "Western" option, there was a public bath in the basement, and bikes were available for day rentals. But what made this inn standout was its central location to historic Kyoto. Everything apart from the golden temple and imperial... More

Once again I had the pleasure of staying at this well-located, budget-priced, very friendly and comfortable inn on a recent visit to Japan. I took advantage of KTI's location and walked from the nearby subway station, saving my taxi money for more sushi. My questions were answered by the knowledgeable front desk staff. I used the coin laundry (a real... More

Great location. Walking distance to Muryama Park and several popular shrines. However the hotel is pretty dated. The rooms and hallways are a bit weathered, although they are clean. We enjoyed trying the Japanese style guest house, but it was a tough night's sleep. But that was our choice. Staff was average. When I tried to inform one of the... More

I give them 1 star because is not a choice of 1/2 star, the 1/2 star will be for cleanliness inside the room, however as soon as you open your door is disgusting, the carpets are dirty and the staircase is very scary, did I mention that they don't have an elevator. This is really not a hotel is like... More

At first sight I didn't like the room. I had had to book a twin room as single rooms were no longer available. I was a bit surprised to find three beds and a couch that probably could be used as a bed, too. The room was so cramped that there was hardly space to open one suitcase. The room... More

This place by far is the worst I've stayed in Japan and Australia combined. I have no idea how this place has good reviews. When temple accommodation puts this place to shame it leaves you scratching your head. The location I actually like but the positives stop there. Upon check in (which is 3pm,much later than any other in Japan... More

Dear Mr. Peter Y, Hi, my name is Izumi. I am the owner and operator of KTI and I wanted to let you know as hard as it was to read your review; I hear you. It is always disappointing to hear of our failures and particularly embarrassing for myself to learn that our staff failed to deliver on your... More

On the day we were leaving for Kyoto I realised that there was no lift at this hotel and requested ground floor room because of my wife not being capable to manage lots of stairs. When we arrived we had a lovely welcome by reception who informed us that we had been allocated a ground floor triple room. The room... More

We stayed there for 2 nights, in a japonese style room. It wasn't that clean. The lack of an elevator is very annoying in such a hotel. Eventhought it is not in the city buzz center, kyoto's fantastic bus network makes the hotel extremely accessible. (Be sure to get the day pass, only 500 yen for the entire day). The... More

This is a modern hotel, opposite the municipal art museum and near the Heian-jingu shrine in northern Higashiyama. That's to say it's fairly far from the city centre, and at least 500m from Higashiyama metro. If you want to be in that area of the city, it's fine, but for its location it is overpriced. We paid ¥11,000 for a... More
