Great location near the Torii gate and opposite the cherry-blossom lined canal. Very friendly service and good breakfast with choice of Japanese or Western style. Comfortable room - no lift but didn't bother us. Asked for a recommendation for good ramen and got sent to Miyaki Ramen in Gion where the locals go and was not disappointed. Excellent value for... Dear Blimit Thank you so much for choosing us. Kyoto is famous for Ramen shops and there are at least 200 of them. Please come back again and find your real favorite Ramen shop. Probably, if you ask each staff, they would have given you different answers. My favorite is Tonryu ( 東龍)near Philosopher's walk/Ginkakuji Area. Sincerely, IN More

My family and I loved it here! It was the fifth place we had stayed in our seven days so far in Japan and we would have loved to stay here longer than our two-night stay. We stayed in a Japanese family room for two adults and our two teenage children and it was very clean, comfortable and spacious. Staff... More

Conveniently placed, very close to Heian shrine, Kyoto municipal museum of art, Zoo , Nanzen-ji shrine. Triple Room is well equipped but it is quite small so we have to arrange the traffic inside the room in order not to bump into one another. The bathroom is twice the size the cabin toilet. Their is no electronic panel for the... More

We stayed here twice and found the location and pricing extradordinary. Easy walking distance to the Philosopher's Walk and good restaurants nearby. The staff operated this very busy hotel with calmness and efficiency. Try the Japanese rooms, the mats make the rooms seem a bit more roomy. Staff helped with other arrangements and helpful advice. Upon arrival you will receive... More

We stayed here twice - separated by five years. I am happy we used the Inn again. The location is superb. The rooms are clean but a bit small. The same for the bathroom. The lobby has been redone with wall and ceiling paintings by a renowned Japanese artist. It is beautiful. English is spoken by the desk staff. Wi... More

Location: great for sightseeing and we stayed six days in November 2013. It is about 7 minutes walk along a tree-lined canal from Higashiyama subway station. It's important to start by saying that the staff were very helpful and very nice. But otherwise, this place is awful—it doesn't appear to have been deep-cleaned or remodelled since the Nixon years. The carpets are stained nearly everywhere you look. Not a little bit stained, but huge puddles of stain stained. The walls were beige once but now they're... More
