The hotel looked like the very best hotel built in 1950's. Yes, it is old, but I could not say it was bad. I made the advance reservation of about three month, and the rate was only UPY7000 for one persen per night. It is located in the center of the city. If you can also book a room less... More

The Kokusai hotel is located a couple of minutes walk from Nijo Mae metro station and across the road from Nijo Castle, a samurai castle which could be taken right out of the set of the Shogun tv-series. If you arrive Kyoto by train, the easiest way to get to the hotel is to take the metro a few stops... More

this was the 3rd hotel we stayed in when we were in Japan, we used this hotel as the base for exploring Nara, kanazawa and kyoto. we stayed here 4 night. hotel itself is an average, nothing special and nothing bad. big rooms though. the location is next to the nijo castle and also good place to get the metro,... The rooms were average. Bigger than usual hotel rooms in Japan, but old and not very clean. The value for money was average. The service was average: bureaucratic, but works in the end. The location was quite okay, close to a subway station and right next to the Nijo temple. Also there was a shopping street pretty near and they... More

From the outside, the hotel gives you the impression that it is just another hotel without any signs of Japanese tradition to be found. You are greeted by friendly hotel staff from the moment you walk in the door and right up to the point you walk up to reception. It is a big hotel, sort of modern and a... More

This hotel is located a long way from Kyoto station. if you arrive on the JR line and are thinking of walking to the hotel, think again!!! It took my partner and i, and our large backpacks 1 hour in the rain! We stayed here for 3 nights during cherry blossom season. I wouldn't say this hotel is in a... More

I like this hotel very much and thought it was extremely good value for money! Though catering to many Japanese tour-groups, the service I received as an individual traveller was as good as that of a 4- to 5-star international hotel. I booked a single room for 3 nights, 18-21 Jun 09, through the hotel website and was lucky to... More

I stayed here for 4 nights. I was looking for a single accomodation on a budget. That's exaclty what the Kokusai delivered. The hotel is in a good location, just across the street from Nijo-jo, and just a block from the Nijojo-mae stop on the Kyoto subway system (the east west line). The hotel is mostly filled with larger (Japanese,... More

Most hotels in Kyoto are booked this time of year, so I ended up staying at the Kyoto Kokusai. friendly staff, but needed to change twice to find a room with internet connection. Windows don't open, and it's very stuffy in here! Typical small bath, comfortable bed, 100% Japanese TV. there are pay channels available if you buy the card... More

stayed here for 3 nights. Room and bathroom was super clean. Great space, super comfy. All the usual hotel amenities. Even had japanese robes to relax in. No in room safe. Location is right across the street from nijo castle and about a 2 minute walk to the subway. It is a bit away from the main center of kyoto... More
