When we walked into the hotel it was like entering to a whole new world. We really liked the atmosphere. And it had the best room we have ever seen and weren't expecting in Japan. It's right in front of the Nijo Castle and of a bus stop. If you want to catch the metro you will have to walk... More

Stayed 3 nights. Hotel really needs updating- very tired. Wifi a disaster & only available in the lobby. Hardly any place to sit there & when crowds are checking in a shambles. However staff very polite & helpful especially the lady at reception who spoke very good English & was exceptional. A map in the lobby giving an update on... More

We decided to stay in a Japanese style room. It was a lot of fun. Very clean hotel. Location is wonderful. Bus stops right in front of hotel to take you anywhere in the city. Train station in the corner one stop from Jr to to airport. The futons were very comfortable. They were rolled out about 5pm and rolled... More

Stayed heren in September 2014, 5 nights in double room, 2 nights in a tatami room. The double room was extraordinary spacious and very Relaxing, except the heavy duvets, the tatami room a bit worn. They give discount coupons for 20% off the breakfast rate and everything in the Lounge Café, which makes things much more affordable. An alternative to... More

We spent 2 nights here whilst in Kyoto. The rooms were very clean and spacious with comfortable beds. It contained everything we needed from hairdryer to fridge. We had a beautiful view of Nino Castle from the hotel. It was quiet, the staff were very helpful and it was quite conveniently placed for the areas we wanted to see. Our... More

Conveniently located near to Nijojomae station, only 3 stops away from Sanjo Keihan, the downtown of Kyoto. By taxi, it will cost you around 1500 Yen to get there from Kyoto Station. The hotel itself isn't new, but it is well upkept. Managed to get superlow rate for booking made 9 months in advance for one-week stay. And yes, there's... More

An elegant older hotel with impeccable service! We stayed in a huge tatami room with a beautiful garden view (at a fabulous discount price thanks to JapanICan!). Room and bathroom were sparkling clean. Literally just across the street from Nijo Castle; bus stops close by. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat. The one thing missing that could make this... More

The hotel will not impress you at the first instance, it does not have wi-fi in your rooms. The same needs to be accessed from the lobby. The location is ok but nothing so great to work around. It is appropriate if you are staying for a single night

I was hesitant to book in this hotel, due to the not so good reviews online. But I went on with it anyway, because I wanted to stay in hotel (with en suite bath and toilet) but with a Japanese style room. Got a good sale price on their website ~ Although upon checkout, they billed me with an outrageously... More

Reasonably priced and comfortably equipped, our stay in Japan was made even better while staying at this hotel. Staff were pleasant and efficient, and many knew English which helped us tremendously when our Japanese-speaking family members weren't around! The included breakfast was incredible! In hotel shopping was also plentiful and reasonable.
