Only one P.R staff speaks English. The rest was very rude and unkind. The flower shop downstairs was dishonest & a big snob.I wonder if this is truly Japanese hospitality. I pent nearly 60 mins waiting for my flowers. When the florists brought it to me, not any word od THANK U VERY MUCH FOR WAITING.If this is Japanese courtesy, i wonder,... More

The room - called Quadruple Room, - we stayed at was a good size and the bathroom was a good size too. They provided us 4 beds - one for each in our family. Finding a hotel in Japan that accommodates 4 is very difficult and we are glad we found this hotel. The breakfast at the hotel - both... More

Before the trip, we have frequent communication with the staffs and they can speak fluent English and were really nice. During our stay, we were treated like royal customers and the hostess was great and amazing. She knows our situation very well that my sister is disable and need wheelchair. They prepared and we can use it during our stay.... More

Our stay at the Righa Royal Hotel was perfect. The staff are fantastic and super helpful. The rooms are clean and spacious. The hotel is so close to the train station for walking and the free shuttle was helpful during the rain. Would definitely come back again!

Our little family stayed at RHIGA Royal and had a pleasant experience. The rooms are small, but standard for Japan travel. We got the double sized bed room. Our toddler was able to sleep on the small lounge chair/sofa. (We brought a travel toddler bed, but he did just fine on the chair/sofa.) Out room faced the back which was... More

Stayed here with my family this past weekend. The rooms are adequate with modern amenities and even a few things that were not expected like complimentary makeup removal kits for women. The hotel is about a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station and there is not much nearby. However, the service level is top notch and I would definitely stay here... More

There was a little "hiccup" upon checked in as the "extra bed" which I've requested a month ago was not captured by the receptionist. Fortunately, the receptionist was quick to rectify it and upgraded my room instead. The location is very good and one can easily walks to the Kyoto Station. The shuttle service helps a lot especially when there... More

It was a short term last minute on-line reservation, and this was one of the few affordable available. Upon arrival I immediately received an upgrade for staying for two nights. Immaculately clean, immensely friendly and polite. There is a shuttle service to and from the train station, even though you can easily walk there (without luggage at least). The receptionist... Basically the hotel is quite good. Room is clean, and front desk, lobby, restaurant are also good atmosphere. It is great that no difference between website picture and actual room. But it is difficult to believe that the hotel will charges for your room mineral water and coffee(even no sugar and cream). I have never seen a hotel charges for... More

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighborhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
