It is located about 0.5km from main Kyoto station. The hotel is gorgeous and comfortable. It had all the facilities. Breakfast was in the ground floor and it was well spread. But we had to wait for sometime for entering for breakfast hall. The japanese has very systematic way of seating arrangements for the breakfast. The people are very courteous... More

I enjoyed my stay. Like others said, the hotel is old, but it's Kyoto. I wouldn't want to stay is a glitzy new hotel in the elegance of old Kyoto. The room was very nice, lager than most, and an easy walk to shrines, temples and the train. The breakfast buffet, was reasonably priced, with an enormous selection. But it... More

We arrived in Righa Royal and were very tired after visiting the Universal Studio's. The staff were very friendly! They said that our tour agent booked us (couple) a room with twin beds. I did not need to explain a lot about how unpleasant that is for a couple which just got engaged. We immedeately received a free upgrade to... More

We stayed in this hotel for four nights and here are some impression about it: Location – There two possible good locations in Kyoto: by the railway station or in the city center. This hotel is nearby the main railway station (Kyoto Station) - a great location. Around the station and in the station itself there are plenty of restaurants,... More

We holidayed in Japan for a week and used Kyoto as our base for a few days in May this year. RIGHA far exceeded our expectation on all fronts. The hotel was elegant with good front office services. The rooms were BIG and spacious. The best was its location and the facility to pick up and drop off to the... More

We stayed here in October last year, the rooms were definitely larger than all the other hotels we have stayed in. Nicely decorated. It was designed with a classic japanese touch. Rooms were clean. Kimonos were provided for our own comfort. Hotel staff were friendly. We even tried to tip the porter and he wouldn't take anything ! In terms... More

The Rhiga is a very comfortable hotel with a free bus running every 15 mins from the train station which takes 10 mins as does the walk to the other half of the station where day tours run from. A reasonably large hotel catering for all tastes with a number of restaurants and a pool. You have to pay to... More

Our family of five stayed for 5 nights at this site. The staff was very pleasant and the concierge was outstanding and very helpful with finding a doctor, directions, finding shoe repair services, confirming travel, etc. The rooms were fair sized and though not updated or spacious, they were very clean. We also appreciated the various restaurants in the hotel.... More

The staff was friendly and accommodating, although we only spoke English so there was a definite language barrier. The location was fine for us, and the relatively short walk to the train and bus stations was convenient. The streets between the hotel, transportation and night life appeared very safe. Singles, couples, and families with children were wandering the streets on... More

Well this turned out to be the best hotel during our stay in Japan and by far the cheapest – what a deal. Well having been in Tokyo for 8 nights we got the Bullet (Shinkansen) train down to Koyto. These trains are ridiculously cheap, spacious seats, comfortable and clean, same business class on an aeroplane. Get the no seat... More
