This hotel is in a great location in downtown Kyoto, there are heaps of great places to eat around the hotel. It is an excellent location to explore all the sites around the city. The buses leave just outside the door and various train stations are close by. Hotel staff are really helpful, they assisted us several times with directions... More

We didn't end up getting to stay at the Kyoto Royal Hotel and Spa. When we arrived, we were informed that the hotel was overbooked. They moved us to the Westin Miyako Kyoto instead. At first I was disappointed as I had chosen the Kyoto Royal Hotel & Spa for the location, but the Westin was a very nice hotel,... More

I thoroughly enjoyed my 5 nights here. This is a large hotel of a high standard clearly popular with many overseas tourist groups. I was a member of one of them, albeit apparently smaller than most. The service from staff was exemplary - reception, concierge and restaurant staff all went out of their way to make my stay as pleasant... More

Pick it for its convenient location, right off the canal in the heart of the more modern central district. A quick bike ride (& you can rent from the hotel) to Gion and to the older parts of Kyoto. Also within easy biking distance of the river and the Imperial palace. Super friendly staff. Only gripe was no temp control... More

Spent 4 nights with whole family in three rooms. Hotel location is perfect. Clean and nice serving people. When asked for late check out beyond 12pm got a response that if want to extend until 1pm it will cost me ninety (90) USD. Could you believe?

Stayed here for three nights and must say that the experience was a mixed one. First the good: The location is excellent. just next to a subway station and a good base for exploring the city by foot. The staff is polite and helpful with adequate english skills. Our room (deluxe twin) was actually larger than what we expected. Some... More

Brilliant location in central Kyoto, perfect for exploring the city on foot. Our room and bathroom were nice, the only downsides were the uncomfortable pillows and very hot room (the air con is controlled centrally). Our window was stuck shut and a very nice member of staff tried to open it without success. The staff were very helpful and polite... More

Upon checking in the reception tried to say that they were over-booked and that they would arrange another hotel for us, however I said no and they continued to check us in to our room! My husband and I stayed at this hotel in February. The staff where all friendly and nice. The hotel room was clean and nice and pretty big for Japanese standards. The hotel is so close to everything, we walked everywhere and the train station is a two minute walk, maybe even quicker. This hotel was great and I would definitely... More
