This hotel is in the best location in town, close to transport, close to many restaurants, shops and close to the river. We booked a twin room, it was spotless, larger than the double rooms and the quietest place we have stayed in Japan. The staff were really helpful too. At night, it was lovely to walk down the side... More

Nice hotel and a great location. The rooms were small, of course, but still nice and fresh. The location is great, being close to the city centre and Gion and more. The hotel bar feels like walking into an old movie with its fancy atmosphere and serious looking and proper bartenders.

We spent 2 nights here during the Gion Festival and Parade. The hotel is located on the parade route and within a 20-30 min walk to the events leading up to the parade. And that is where the good review ends. This hotel is rated 4-stars so I expected above-average facilities as well as good service. What little we used... More

First of all, the hotel is at a top location. The main restaurant and shopping streets are around the corner, and the Gion quarters, etc, are within a 15min walk. The hotel serves really good breakfast with a variety of japanese and european dishes. We in particular liked the miso soup with different things to add. The personal are very... More

Firstly this hotel has a really good location. On one of the main shopping streets, with subway, arcades and Pontocho all within 200m. Also, 205 bus stop outside the hotel goes straight to Kinkaku-ji temple and is the best way of getting there. A few tips on the hotel. We booked a double and twin room. Avoid the doubles as... More

Our first time in Japan, and the beginning of a long journey/ The hotel was in an ideal location, and we had the best time - the rooms were spacious and clean, the staff very helpful, and the hotel was excellent. From that location it was easy to find things to see and do by bus, underground or just walking.... More

This was my sixth trip to Japan. My husband and adult son shared a twin room, and I had an adjoining room to myself because as a rule Japan hotel rooms can be rather compact. We stayed three nights in early June after a week in frenetic Tokyo. We had a very enjoyable stay at this same hotel six years... More

Kyoto royal hotel is in the heart of Kyoto, Shiyakusho-mae metro station is 1 minute away by walk. In front of the hotel, there are bus stops, you can visit almost all the temples in Kyoto with these buses. So i think the location is perfect. Another very good thing is the breakfast. At the hotels in Osaka and Tokyo,... More

this is a reasonably priced good hotel . i would say it is a good value for money , coz it has all the basic facilities , well packaged. the rooms are quite spacious as compared to the overall hotel standard in Japan. The staff is hospitable and good. The only problem was that it is distant from the city... More

Stayed here four nights on business, which brings me to different parts of Japan about once a year. I found this hotel to have the standard excellence of service by front staff and very clean rooms that I've found at most locations I've stayed at. Room was (much) larger than expected, with a generously-sized bed; standard Western doored closet was... More
