Everyone else has said it but i will say it again. Location is perfect! Close to shops, river, gion, subway, buses. Can't beat it. We booked a twin room but we were a couple, they noted this and joined the beds for us. Unlike others who complained about small rooms, ours was large, with a massive combined bed. Yeh it... More

Decent location and comfortably sized. It is not far from the subway station and nearby attractions. Service is solid, as they attended my needs within minutes. Overall, it was a pleasant hotel to stay in.

Arrival; we came into the city and then caught the subway as we were not sure about the bus network. Easy, we used our Suica cards that we purchased in Tokyo so no hassle. The hotel is literally 2 minutes around the corner from exit 1 of the Shiyakushomae station. Reception staff were efficient and polite but I felt without... More

This hotel is very nice, location is excellent. You can walk to al the best siteseeing places and around the hotel are a lot of nice restaurants and bars. The rooms are good, with a hugh kingsize bed, good wifi and a decent bathroom. The breakfast good be better, not so much choice of western products. You can rent bikes... More

Close to subway , shopping arcade, Gion district and other attractions. Pleasant and comfortable hotel, rooms were clean and decent size for Japan. Comfortable bed and sheets. The bathroom was somewhat of a cube but adequate room for one person . Nice soaps and shampoos. Breakfast buffet was an A plus, full choice American and Japanese breakfast choices, salads, fruits and... More

A nice experience for the family trip with children. Not every hotel can accept the little children with the parents in a room but this one can! This really matters to the family trip! I will be back! (big smile)

Second time I have stayed and very happy again with this choice. Great location close to lots of attractions, public transport options and eating. Rooms are small but bigger than many in Europe. Comfortable bed( tends to harder mattress) but choice of pillows available. Kettle and small fridge available.

Location is the BEST!! near to the market, eating area, walking distance to all the attractions. On the first night, we walked to the nearest riverside for dinner. The view worth million. The hotel also offers the best service ever as my friend's toddler crying in the room and from what I heard was the hotel arranged someone to check... More

Love the location, love the happy hour (order a cocktail so you can admire the bartender's style), otherwise it's a very adequate Japanese older style hotel. The staff is very helpful but it's really a place to sleep while you explore and you will be walking distance close to shopping, restaurants, public transport, and historic districts. Location, location, location! We... More

Staying in City Center

Neighborhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
