Plus: central location close to subway and within walking distance to areas such as gion and poncho districts. Bus stop right in front of hotel qhich would take you to all major attractions like kinkakuji and ginkakuji. Hotel also has a really good guide map so make sure you take one in the lobby. Minus: very small double bed room;... More

Our room was big enough to open our luggage compared to other hotels in Japan. Great breakfast buffet. The location is great as well, with lots of restaurants or Isakayas around the hotel. Most of the Isakayas have only Japanese written Menus but worth to try it. World class food, not only Sushi. Lots of entertainment, shopping and the famous... More

If you want a location in the midst of things (read crowds , shopping and nightlife), are on a budget and are not going to spend much time in your room, this hotel is a good choice. The price was right. For that price, our room was small, furnishings were basic and the bath essentially equal to that of a... More

I've stayed at this hotel twice in the last year. The rates are VERY good, especially if you book in advance. It's not a budget hotel, so don't expect those types of rates. But for a full service hotel in the best location possible, you can't beat this. I have never used the spa, so I can't speak to that.... More

The hotel location is excellent. It is close to the city centre; very near to the Sanjo shopping centre and has a very large number of restaurants within easy walking distance. The hotel lobby gives the impression that this is a grand hotel but that is certainly not the case when it comes to the bedrooms. Ours was small and... More

Stayed here for 2 nights. We were given a much bigger room than anticipated - we booked a single 3 bed room but we were given a two bedroom suite instead. Hotel was quiet and clean. Location was very convenient for both the Kyoto subway system and a shopping mall down the street. Hotel bar was nice if not a... More

This city hotel may look a little bland from the outside but the service and the clean, spacious rooms make this an excellent option in Kyoto. The location couldn't be better, just next to the subway station and a short walk to Gion and the market. The staff went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable and... More

As in most hotels in Japan, the rooms are small by North American standards, but offer all basic comforts and impeccable cleanliness. Front desk staff and concierge are generally helpful (to the extent enabled by their English proficiency- which varies significantly, but usually it is possible to find someone with enough conversational English to obtain needed advice or to reserve... We spent 3 nights at the "Royal Spa" in November. The people at the front desk were very formal and not smiling. That also applied to the concierge who gave me the impression that he felt bothered by clients. I had booked through the internet and prepaid - so we only had a voucher and really not any choice or... More
