Clean, well appointed hotel, friendly staff. Frequent shuttle service to subway station. Food was great -enjoyed the sushi very much! Very large, comfortable lobby to talk to friends. We enjoyed our stay.

This is a return to the Brighton Hotel for my wife and me. Previously we could not get reservations there for six nights, but upon arriving in Kyoto and checking on availability, we are happy to find three nights of availability for a three bed room. The hotel checked us into a large two bed room with a separate section... More

Wonderful hotel for this mom and two daughters. We had a triple room. Comfortable, clean, quiet, three beds, crisp linens, beautiful bathroom. Location is good. 7-minute shuttle runs reliably and often to and from subway stop on a main avenue. You can also walk to subway and bus stops. Concierge (Ms. Uraka Odajima) was very nice and incredibly helpful with... More

Great hotel in Kyoto! Clean, quiet, comfortable, beautiful bathroom, three comfortable beds with crisp linens for Mom and two adult (20's) daughters. Excellent breakfast buffet with huge variety, great service. Very friendly, helpful and charming staff. Concierge was particularly helpful both while we were there and before, helping with restaurant reservations, tickets, via email. Shuttle from hotel every 20 minutes... More

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights and we loved every minute. The hotel is very bright and spacious. And our room was massive. Fantastic big bed, and a lounge. But we loved loved the great bathroom, with heated toilet seat, and a fabulous big shower with all amenities. I am very particular with cleanliness, and I could... More

Konichiwa, the hotel staff bow when you arrive and every time you leave and always have a smile for you. This is an expensive hotel to eat at with a small glass of wine going for twenty dollars and small portions of food as well. The hotel breakfast features western food as well as Japanese food in their buffet. One... More

I have a passion for hotels - have had this passion for over forty years. Now and then something really special comes along and this hotel was for us in that category. Located in a wonderful area of Kyoto very near the Imperial Palace and many shops and restaurants within walking distance. What makes the hotel so special is the... More

Visted this hotel while on business in Kyoto. The hotel is staffed by very personable employees who are ateentive and helpful. They have there own shuttle bus which is really useful. The property is a 5 minute walk away from the Imperial Royal Palace and 12 minutes walk away from the castle. All in all I had a great experience... More

Staying in Nishijin District

Neighborhood Profile
Nishijin District
A district with a long textile heritage, ancient Kyoto is still alive in the Nishijin District. Studded with its weaving factories, tea houses, and onsen, the neighborhood is charming and peaceful with a self-possessed air. Less traveled than other parts of the city, it is a district where you can take it at your own pace. Visitors can explore the many weaving and cloth houses, the free kimono shows, and the many shops selling traditional clothing and goods. Showcasing architecture with sloping roofs and wooden reliefs dating to decades past, the streets in the Nishijin District transport you back in time, making them a joy to wander.
