Despite asking for a double room we were given a twin room with beds which could not be moved, so this was not ideal. The furniture and bed linen were very dated and you couldn't open the wardrobe door fully without moving other furniture items, same went for opening the window, we gave up in the end. The only really... More

Don't expect too much from this hotel. The rooms are very small and very old decor. Budget hotel in a great location. Thumbs up for the location!!! Toilet and shower very small, not suitable for big built people. The toilet was more like a portaloo with attached shower. Bathroom floor was squeaky. No in room coffee, only green tea. We... More

I booked a room here as I could not find accomodation in a ryokan, and from the pictures on the web site I was expecting a rather drab room. In fact my room, though small, was rather nice, and very comfortable. The hotel was very well kept, and the reception staff very friendly. Central location, with good bus connections make... More

This hotel is an absolute little gem. Staff pleasant and polite and it's so close to Ponto Cho, Gion district, Nishiki Market and close to bus stops to the other great sightseeing areas. Our room was clean, in very good repair and fresh. We requested a non smoking room and we were catered for. In fact there was no evidence... More

Hotel Unizo is in a very convenient location where you can easily walk to lots of shops & restaurants. Very Easy to access the sights in Kyoto from the using buses & subway or even just by walking. Rooms are adequate - small & basic. Bathroom is very tiny but fine for a solo traveller. It's a good hotel to... More

Look and feel: Hotel didn't look too good from the outside. The lobby was on the 2nd floor and I had to dragged my luggage up a flight of stairs. Lobby was small and felt old. Room was a small door at the corner of corridor. When I entered, the room looked and felt old. The bed was a little... More

I guess my review will be the one crummy review that always exists on Trip Advisor for every hotel. I did not like this hotel. The location is excellent. The room is teensy, as is typical, and it was clean, but I paid a high price for the room (my fault, I suppose, and that's after I found a lower... More

We were glad to come across this hotel on the Japanican website, as hotels were quite full in the area during our stay. This is on one of the main streets of Kyoto, so it's easy to get around. We were about a 5 minute walk from the Kyoto Shiyakusho-mae station on the Karasume line. The room was small (we... More

Usually stay at Kyoto Hotel Okura, every month, but this fully booked due to several floors under renovation. 1st time at Unizo, selected only on the merit of location and availability. This a typical upper Japanese business hotel but very well looked after. The access to the lobby and the size of the lobby is awful. Other wise decent in... More

We stayed at Unizo on a 8-day trip to Kyoto. It is an absolutely no frills hotel but at the best location for someone on a short tourism trip. If you plan to spend a lot of time outside the hotel this is a very good option in Kyoto. Hotel has a Japanese style breakfast for ¥ 1,050 with a... More
