Although the hotel facility itself is basic and a little run down, you cannot beat its location - right in the heart of modern and historical Kyoto. We had lots of luggage and the hotels staff helped us carry them inside, which is rare for business hotels in Japan. Yes, the rooms are small, but very typical in Japan. Our... More

I stayed here as part of an Interpid trip and didn't find it particularly good. Positives are the location, it is very close to major shops and the Pontocho restaurant area. Bus No 5 from the Kawaramachi Sanjo stop, just infront of the hotel is very useful and you can buy one day bus passes from reception at 500Y. The... More

The room is similar to other Japanese business hotel, extremely small but functional and generally clean. However, the room cleaning person did not wash the glasses I have used. She simply put it back to where it was placed originally and pretend it was washed. The price is good as I got the single room for 3 nights at a... More

Hotel Unizo was the first hotel during our 10 day trip in Kyoto. Our third time to this city but first time staying in hotel Unizo. cab fare from train station to the hotel is less than Yen 900. check in was easy and swift. Staffs speak English. Room is small and there is not enough space for us to... More

Stayed here for 4 nights and had a great time. Hotel is in an excellent area close to everything. Room was very clean and bed comfortable and quiet large for a Japanese hotel which pleasantly surprised us. Reception staff were friendly and very helpful. Overall a great stay in Kyoto.

This a very good business hotel located centrally in Kyoto. Perfect service. They helped us to book our next hotel. Room very clean. Quiet area. Restaurants and supermarkets within a minute. Direct access to all the city attractions, direct bus to the train station. LAN available in the room and wifi at the lobby.

Despite asking for a double room we were given a twin room with beds which could not be moved, so this was not ideal. The furniture and bed linen were very dated and you couldn't open the wardrobe door fully without moving other furniture items, same went for opening the window, we gave up in the end. The only really... More

Don't expect too much from this hotel. The rooms are very small and very old decor. Budget hotel in a great location. Thumbs up for the location!!! Toilet and shower very small, not suitable for big built people. The toilet was more like a portaloo with attached shower. Bathroom floor was squeaky. No in room coffee, only green tea. We... More

I booked a room here as I could not find accomodation in a ryokan, and from the pictures on the web site I was expecting a rather drab room. In fact my room, though small, was rather nice, and very comfortable. The hotel was very well kept, and the reception staff very friendly. Central location, with good bus connections make... More
