Excellent location and staff. Very clean with a nice bar. Recommend anyone to stay here. Had some sake with the staff after hours which was great. Very close to subway and bridge. Slept well in the dorm beds too.

This is a great little hostel in the centre of Gion next to the subway and the ambient and atmospheric streets of old Gion- aswell as just over the bridge the glittering new shops and eateries.Choice of dorms which offer a cheap but very clean bed with free tea and coffee-the bigger dorms are nicest-the 4 bedded female only dorm... Stayed at this guesthouse recently. Pro's - Clean, good location, fast working wifi, hot shower Con's - Tiny common room, no Kitchen, Service was bad While in general I can see they are helpful the time I was there was an off day 2 different times I thought the staff were rude in the way they disregarded any respect towards... RECOMENDO! ENGLISH Great hostel, good location, clean, easy and convenient to enter / leave / stay. Fair price (could have... More

We had no idea how amazingly close this place is to the station until we saw one of the exits right in front of the hostel! It can be pricey but considering the fact that it is smack in town and within walking distance to pretty much everything, makes the place a great bargain. Loved the feel of the place,... More

We called in by pure chance in Oct 2012, on our last night in Kyoto, determined to try some Sake. We were not disappointed. What some reviewers write about the atmosphere is to some extent true, but we were nevertheless quite content for two simple reasons. 1, the sheer number of different Sake available and 2, the friendliness of the... Prime location and really easy to find. Dorms were small but spotlessly clean with really comfy beds, and the bathroom/shower facilities were also always uber clean. The cafe/bar was a bit lacking in atmosphere - very clearly catering for foreign tourists so not brilliantly suited to those looking for an authentic Japanese experience - but it was nice to have... The hostel was small, quiet and comfortable. It is right in the heart of the Gion district, which is a beautiful area to wander around. Located right next to a subway exit, and has a bus stop across the road. The staff were fantastic, and were able to provide english maps and give recommendations of places to visit and the... More

Jam Hostel is by far the best hostel I have ever stayed in! Only opened in 2012, the hostel in very clean, modern and all its faciliites are very well maintained with daily cleaning. The staff are very helpful and are often themselves staying in the hostel, so can provide great advice on the city. They provide free 24h showers... More

Jam is in a fantastic location. You're even apt to see Geishas in the neighborhood. The hostel is close to lots of shopping and places to eat. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Our six bed dorm room was clean and the bunk beds roomy. There's a bathroom in the room and showers nearby. We were able to do... More
