The reasons that this hotel is a good choice for tourists are (i) location: the sights and sites in Kyoto are very scattered ( East and West) and the hotel located in the middle of the city and close to good public transport; (ii) comfort ( commented on by all reviewers): note that it is not the charming ryokan that... The location of this hotel is great, you can get to all the tourist attractions quite easily by bus/train or walk to the imperial palace (25min). Lots of bars and resturants The bakery next to the hotel is lovely, as they had veggie options. The rooms it self was modern, ok in size, beds were comfy, they provided comfy pj's... More

This hotel is a great choice for those travelling to Kyoto, especially first timers. After getting around the city a bit and seeing where other hotels we considered were, it was fortunate we chose the Royal Park. Don't be fooled into thinking that staying right at the station will be better. Kyoto is much more of a walking town, and... More

Near many restaurants & grocery marts. Our room on the back was quiet & clean as is all of Japan. Hotel staff was always helpful, & the breakfast had many choices, though there are cheaper choices nearby. So many things to see in Kyoto, & the location is convenient. 3 days wasn't enough to see everything, but really enjoyed our... More

Wish we could have stayed longer. The rooms were big, bright, clean and airy. Bathroom was average size but the idea of a glass enclosure for the shower and bathtub was perfect. Location was excellent, very near shops, restaurants, convenience store. bus station. Pleasant walk to the subway and train station. Most important for me was the hotel staff ---... More

Unusual entrance but easy to find for the Taxi driver. In the main shopping area and a five minute walk to "eat street" and Gion! Surrounded by excellent restaurants. Close to all public transport!!!!! You want more? Beautifully appointed rooms with all amenities (not huge by western standards but good by japanese standards)lovely bathroom.Clean! If you still want more to... More

This was a very good hotel for our 3 night stay on our Japan tour. The rooms were very comfortable and of a good size and we continue to enjoy the heated toilet seats a la lots of Japanese bathrooms (we don't have this luxury in Australia!). We retreated to the small bar each night and were looked after by... More

We stayed here for 4 nights in September. The staff were very helpful with restaurant recommendations and bus information. The rooms were very clean and the beds supercomfortable but the bathroom was unbelievable. They has a toilet with 10 different functions, a shower and a tub plus a mirror over the sink that didn't get fogged. We loved walking to... More

The hotel is quite far from the Kyoto railway station. The location is good in terms of restaurants, shopping arcades, etc. However, not that convenient to visit the most important shrines and temples which are quite far. Upon arrival (it was 12:30 pm) we approach the desk to check in and were told by the Reception clerk (a Westerner who... More

After 3 nights in a tiny Tokyo hotel room it was such a joy to come to this hotel. The location is excellent - one block west of the river and walkable to the Gion area where Shimbashi-dori and Hanamikoji-dori were just spectacular. There are also lots of buses that stop at the bus stop Kawaramachi Sanjo - and it's... More
