Our room was huge, especially for Japanese standard. It was clean, spacious and had a jacuzzi. It had space for a couch and table too. It's in a great location, with amazing restaurants and Geishas walking around (if you're lucky). The breakfast was basic but it worked perfectly fine for me - toast, miso soup and rice to last me... The staff is polite. Our room is big in Japan standard. Besides the basic necessities in a room, it has a sofa & a bathroom with a Jacuzzi enabled bathtub. The only thing is it lacks power socket at more convenient places.

The amenities in the bedroom is 5 star. We got a bedroom for 3 and it comes with a huge bathroom and a decent size bedroom. The front desk speaks minimal English but we get our message across. Smack right in the heart of Gion, you will feel like you are back in the Shogun era. Would love to stay... More

This hotel is a hidden gem. And I mean hidden. It is nestled in a quiet corner just south of a busy street, but not far from anything. The room is ginormous by standard. The bathroom is spectacular! Almost the same size as the room itself! Everything seemed brand new. Yes, the beds are firm. But I like firm beds!... More

The location of this hotel is hard to beat, I would recommend that you stay here no longer than one night because the beds are terrible. I mean really terrible. I takes a lot to displease me in a hotel, we were not on a luxury holiday either, but the bed and pillows were so hard that my hubby slept... More

The hotel is at Gion District of Kyoto, Japan, a notable tourist destination. It is near to the bus stops and train station. It is very convenience to travel to the tourist attractions if you live in this hotel. Its staff are friendly too.

This place is superbly located - you are minutes away from masses of the main sights of Kyoto. Just a stroll from the hotel surrounds you in narrow lanes and traditional wooded buildings. Just over the river are the restaurants on Pontocho and a bit further the street market of Nishiki-koji, which is amazing. Go the other way and you're... More

We stay here for four nights while we explore Kyoto in December. The hotel was in a back street, it would be very difficult to find it on our own. For those arrive Kyoto train station, I suggest you not only write down the name and address of the hotel but most importantly of the PHONE number of the hotel... More

Stayed here for 3 nights in August, the location is great, once you find it, there are sign posts, I wasn't sure I was heading in the right direction when walking down a small alleyway then out of nowhere, there it is! Check in was quick and smooth just like the rest of japan, we had two double beds in... More

Staying in Gion

Neighborhood Profile
Gion
Gion is Kyoto's famed Geisha District (called "Geiko" in Kyoto). Though Gion's many tea houses and entertainment restaurants are closed to foreigners, Geiko and Maiko in their traditional makeup with gilded hair in full kimono can be seen drifting the streets on their way to and from work, where they fan dance, sing, and play instruments for customers. Gion lights up at night, when the ancient-looking streets glow with lanterns along the river, where weeping willows catch the starlight and the air is warmed with conversation. Groups pass through to populate the restaurants and bars along the riverfront, but Gion still manages to be a mostly quiet district, due in large part to limited automotive traffic through many of its streets. Gion is a wonderful place to indulge in Kyoto's local and customary cuisines, and is best enjoyed after dark.
