The hotel is at Gion District of Kyoto, Japan, a notable tourist destination. It is near to the bus stops and train station. It is very convenience to travel to the tourist attractions if you live in this hotel. Its staff are friendly too.

This place is superbly located - you are minutes away from masses of the main sights of Kyoto. Just a stroll from the hotel surrounds you in narrow lanes and traditional wooded buildings. Just over the river are the restaurants on Pontocho and a bit further the street market of Nishiki-koji, which is amazing. Go the other way and you're... More

We stay here for four nights while we explore Kyoto in December. The hotel was in a back street, it would be very difficult to find it on our own. For those arrive Kyoto train station, I suggest you not only write down the name and address of the hotel but most importantly of the PHONE number of the hotel... More

Stayed here for 3 nights in August, the location is great, once you find it, there are sign posts, I wasn't sure I was heading in the right direction when walking down a small alleyway then out of nowhere, there it is! Check in was quick and smooth just like the rest of japan, we had two double beds in... More

I was here last year for New Year's. The front desk was amazingly friendly, letting us have little amenities when we asked where we could purchase them, and giving us directions and recommendations for places to eat. The location is amazing for the money you pay, considering you are basically 2 minutes from Gion Square and 10 minutes from the... More

Had the pleasure of staying in this wonderful hotel. The best I ever stayed in ever. The room was more an apartment than just a room. Huge bedroom with plenty of space for sofa and coffee table. The bathroom had a spa bath and separate bidet and and sauna, 4 separate rooms just for the bathroom. Very clean and the... More

Staff not so friendly (especially for Japan) and little English - but hey, you don't really need much. Breakfast room was like a nightmare school cafeteria - don't bother, they only have bad coffee and croissants with jam (plus some seaweed stuff). Rooms were MASSIVE! Made for a great change. Shower and toilet OK too. Great spot - 3 minutes... More

Very average hotel which is priced too high in my opinion. Pros: - Location in Gion was lovely and very traditional. Saw geishas of a night which was awesome and there was a spectacular shrine just 200 metres from the hotel as well as many other shrines/temples nearby. - Room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was great as there... More

Nice clean hotel with a beautiful bedroom and bathroom and great location to all the attractions, shops and restaurants, approx. 7 min walk from the train station. The staff are great and happy to assist with any bookings. Recommend the 'dress up as a Geisha', it takes about 3 1/2 hours, information can be found in reception, also take a... More

Staying in Gion

Neighborhood Profile
Gion
Gion is Kyoto's famed Geisha District (called "Geiko" in Kyoto). Though Gion's many tea houses and entertainment restaurants are closed to foreigners, Geiko and Maiko in their traditional makeup with gilded hair in full kimono can be seen drifting the streets on their way to and from work, where they fan dance, sing, and play instruments for customers. Gion lights up at night, when the ancient-looking streets glow with lanterns along the river, where weeping willows catch the starlight and the air is warmed with conversation. Groups pass through to populate the restaurants and bars along the riverfront, but Gion still manages to be a mostly quiet district, due in large part to limited automotive traffic through many of its streets. Gion is a wonderful place to indulge in Kyoto's local and customary cuisines, and is best enjoyed after dark.
