comfortable, clear and tidy, modern style, polite staff, good services The only problem I met is about the language. I can communicate well with your staff through emails, however, I cannot find any staff at the reception counter who can use english well, neither speaking nor listening. It would be super nice if the english standard of your staff, especailly... More

The Hotel Anteroom in Kyoto is a haven, a really comfortable and beautiful hotel in walking distance from the station. The staff are really helpful and the breakfasts were brilliant. They catered for my coeliac son really well so they were also a gluten free haven in a country that has few options. I would recommend this hotel to anyone... More

Stayed here for 3 nights and I can't fault it. Room was a standard single and had everything I needed. Free washing machine and great bar in the lobby, also the bike hire is great. There is works of art in the lobby which make it very interesting to look at. I would recommend this place to family and friends.

A lovely place to stay in Kyoto. Interesting gallery space and great bar for evening relaxing after dinner. (Doesn't open until 8pm so no chance for a pre-dinner drink which was disappointing). Good sized well furnished rooms, comfortable beds, great ensuite. Staff recommended great local restaurant for dinner nearby. Highly recommend.

Hotel Anteroom is fantastic. The staff are exceedingly friendly, and if you've got any questions about navigating Kyoto they are the people to ask. The room was well furnished and comfortable. Recommended

Have booked the hotel thru booking.combut subsequently also booked thru the website on the ladies package. Was unable to cancel online which I will be charge penalty. Wrote an email to hotel for help and they have gone all way out to help me to cancel the duplication. Also had asked about leaving the luggage for a day in the... More

I've stayed in this hotel in September 2014 for 5 days, it was the most pleasant experience for the whole trip. Personal speaks English very well, everyone was very helpful. Room was small as in the most Japanese hotels but very clean and quiet, bed was very comfortable and air conditoner worked well. Breakfast was the most amazing, with home... More

The hotel is a unique getaway. The decor inside is sophisticated and chic. The bar area was relaxing after a day of temples and endless walking. The front staff was polite. Nagisa was very helpful when I arrived one day early in finding an available room. The breakfast in the morning was a nutritious way to begin the day. I... More

Great hotel. Good price. Spacious (for Japan anyway). Clean. AMAZING breakfast. I'd recommend getting the larger terrace room, especially if there's two of you. Close enough to JR Kyoto station (10-15 mins fairly straight walk) and metro a few hundred metres away. Make sure you check out the Ramen joint a few doors down - the chef was lovely and... More

Thank you fellow reviewers for recommending this hotel - we loved it. Following advice we booked the large room and were able to eat on the little patio every night which was a peaceful respite from our busy days visiting shrines and temples. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and we liked the japanese style bath. We used the hotel bikes... More

Staying in Southern Kyoto

Neighborhood Profile
Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens, temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers, picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the mountain's off-set paths aren't frequented by tourists, and the mountain's serenity can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Southern Kyoto is the place to enjoy being outside, and to pay your respects to the ancient architecture and gods of the land that are celebrated here.
