The hotel is around 10-15 minutes walk from JR Kyoto station, which is quite convenient. It is tucked at a side street, but taxi drivers have no problem getting us there. There is a 24h convenient store a few steps from the hotel and a nice coffee shop across the street named Toru Cafe, which opens early in the morning.... More

My daughter and I stayed at Hotel Kanra for five nights while in Kyoto. We arrived quite tired and were greeted first by the lovely aroma of their essential oil blend which diffuses in the entry. The staff was so incredibly polite and helpful. The atmosphere is elegant and calming. The room was so beautiful. I found myself taking picture... More

We stayed for one night after a two-night stay at a ryokan. Due to already being in Kyoto, we needed to drop off our luggage around 9 AM before we did more touristy stuff. The reception was very friendly and took our luggage quickly and offered us umbrellas for the rainy weather while asking what our plans were for the... More

This hotel is located near kyoto station (actually very near gojo station) in calm residual streets. If you will accommodate in this hotel, you could go to kawaramachi and near cities, osaka and kobe easily and have interesting experience to wear modern kimono and have a bath in the hinoki tub. But I felt little inconvenience by lack of dress... More

My father and I booked a twin room for two nights. We found the staff to be extremely helpful, not least with my vegetarian requirements. The breakfast is worth including, with western and Japanese style available. The room was great too; tatami mats and wooden bath tub along with a calming green colour pallet made the room a wonderful environment.... More

The service of the staff are excellent just like every other service line as we have come to expect in Japan however the room is at most average. Some complains I have are, Its so freaking hot and it winter(Jan). I was unable to cool down the room even after turning the aircon to the coldest. No bedside tables which... More

Found this lovely boutique hotel from fellow travelers at tripadvisor and boy were they right. Great hotel in a nice neighborhood. The staff spoke excellent English and walked us all the way into our cabs when we departed. I'll be back as Arnold would say

Location: close to subway station. But not that close to Kyoto station. The hotel is in a quiet alley with 7-eleven nearby. Room: our superior room is impressive. Nice bathroom and super comfortable bed. We love the decoration. It's modern and chic with a tough of old ryokan. We stayed here for 3 nights in our second trip to Kyoto... More

Had the pleasure to stay at Kanra for three wonderful nights at the end of December 2014 and loved every minute. It's the perfect place to stay when in Kyoto: stunning design that combines the best from Japanese and modern styles, perfect service, super convenient location close to the Kyoto station. Definitely one of the highlights of my trip to... More
