My friend and I stayed at the Kanra Kyoto just for one night in Oct. '14 as the last night for our Kyoto trip. After couple of days staying in the traditional Japanese Ryokan we would like to stay in the contemporary hotel which is close to Kyoto Station to catch up our flight on the next day. The location... Price point is great value. Location is close, 15 min walk to Kyoto station or 1 subway stop on the Karasuma line. Rooms are fabulous. other reviews have mentioned lack of closet space but our room had a full closet behind the shoji screen. We had 3 adults and plenty of storage. There is contrary to other reviews easy wi-fi... More

Great Boutique Hotel, entance hard to find in a small side street. Japanese touch adapted to western preferences.. Good location on Krasuma Street, relatively close to the railway station, a subway stop is next door. Very friendly and helpful multi-lingual staff. Rooms are large but not enough closet space.

We just finished a goog three night stay. We chose the hotel as it was an easy ten minute walk to Kyoto station and within reach go the Main Street. The hotel ticks the basics for service and comfort at a reasonable price. If readers were looking for critical comments to help them to choose, I would say that I... More

Really great hotel. By far the best we stayed in in Japan - also one of the most expensive! Felt Japanese but with Western ameneties. The bed and bedding were amazing! Bathtub lovely and the staff very helpful. As others have said not practical as there is very limited wardrobe space but we didn't unpack anyway! Location wise its good... More

Stayed a night in a Japanese style 2-story-room. It is a 'design room' called KAGIROI. I recomend this room to those who are not keen to go as far as traditional Ryokan but want some Japanse style for experience. Ground floor is Tatami bedroom with Futon(they do the bed making, do not worry) and the basement floor has bath and... More

We stayed in Kanra for 3 nights during our visit to Kyoto. It's located only 10 min taxi drive from the station, and 10 min taxi drive from Downtown, so easy to get everywhere. We walked to the centre most of the time and also did one day trip to Hiroshima, since we could get there on 2 hour bullet... More

This is a lovely design hotel. The rooms really do look like the pictures. We had a twin room, which meant surprisingly huge and comfortable beds, so well beyond king when put together (hotel had already arranged that). The room was anyway very spacious, with a large tatami seating area. The wooden bathtub was very nice and comfy and I... More

Great Hotel, outstanding rooms, not a Japanese size very spacious, modern at the same time with very traditional Japanese touch. Very good location, good breakfast, everything was very good. Perfect place to start visiting the beautiful Kyoto.

This is the best hotel design-wise I had been to so far. It was relaxing to just sit and chill. We had a big double room and it was amazing. Bathtub from bamboo, separate toilet, enormous bed. The room was the biggest I have been to in Japan and top 5 ever :) The best was the design - think... More
