Myself and two friends stayed in one of the dorms. The room had four bunk beds, which were perfectly comfortable. The room was quite a nice size and very clean. The communal shower and bathroom facilities were clean and well maintained; even a hairdryer was available for use. The same goes for the kitchen and living area, which was complete... More

PROS: Extremely helpful English speaking staff (amazing!), clean facilities (albeit cramped but typical for the region, we stayed in the private double room with en suite), tatami mats for beds were comfortable enough, great location close to the station, clean common areas for meals and relaxing, bike rentals. CONS: No elevator though there is only one floor; the area does... More

My parents & I stayed in Triple Ensuite Japanese room for 4 nights during our recent visit to Kyoto. Here are some of my observations / reviews worth sharing of: (1) The hostel is, no doubt, strategically located. Do print out the location map which can be found on their website http://kyoto.hanahostel.com/access_e.html. With the printed located map, it was hassle... More

Walking distance to Kyoto Station and bus station. Small and clean room but equipped with basic needs. Love the ensuite room! For foreigners who has not sleep on tatami before might needs to put some extra efforts on setting up the blankets and pillows. Staffs were friendly and helpful. Nearby hostel there is a few cafe/restaurant but highly recommend to... More

We were an over 60 couple who booked a double room with en suite bath. We were a bit nervous about possible noise from a younger crowd, but that concern turned out to be needless. The room itself was rather small, but smelled so sweet from the tatami mats. Sleeping so low to the floor was a bit awkward, but... More

Be warned - the scale on the map is not the same as that for the other Hana Hostels. As you exit the Kyoto Train station, head towards the Kyoto Tower. Walk toward the castle, you will pass a Starbucks, Baskin Robins and a large department store on your left. At the very next intersection, turn right (there is a... More

Hana Hostel is a good option for budget travellers. It is handily located close to the wonderful Kyoto Rail station. Rooms are small but not cramped. Kitchen facilities are very convenient - you can make toast and boil eggs for breakfast, if you are into that sort of tucker. The staff are relentlessly friendly and helpful.

The hostel is situated less than 5 mins walk from main Kyoto station (where you can catch bus, and all the trains). There is a bus stop outside the hostel which #26 bus basically took us to many of the main attractions in Kyoto. We travelled as a couple and stayed in an ensuite room - it was small but... More

Just a 5-minute walk from JR Kyoto Train Station, Hana Hostel offers basic accommodation with free Wi-Fi. We were staying in dormitory. Room was very simple, kitchen clean. Staff very friendly. Perfect spot for backpackers
