Our six night stay at the Capsule Ryokan proved to be a great choice in budget accommodation. Less than a 10 minute walk from Kyoto station (on a main street and easy to find), our room was a very clean but compact double in this new hotel, with A/C, TV, wi-fi, and an ensuite with a 'welcoming' toilet lid (you'll... I stayed at Capsule Ryokan in May for 4 nights. Thank You Masao and Kazu for making our stay a great experience to discover Kyoto! The hostel is located just 7 min walk from Kyoto Station, where JR Shinkansen arrive, there also you will find a bus station to take you around the city. Capsule is all new, with tiny but... More

What is the first thing I remember about Capsule Ryokan? Extremely friendly and helpful staff! They are doing their best to make your journey to Kyoto emotional, entertaining, comfortable, memorable. Maps, advice, even small talk 'how was your day', everything makes you feel great pleasure during all your visit to this wonderful city. As for location and rooms: everything was... More

If you have any reservations about navigating Kyoto, this is the place to start. They are super helpful when you first arrive and each room has a binder of things to do, places to eat, and how to get around. The staff is bilingual English/Japanese and can also help with any issues. The rooms are exactly as advertised and all... More

A good mix between a classic ryokan room and the modern concept of capsule rooms. The staff is really kind, speaks english and gives lot of informations to have the best trip as possible! Rooms are very comfortable, maybe small, but no suprises thanks of the Capsule Ryokan's website. All that for a really, really good price!! To conclude, i... More

Well, I just spent two days and a night here but it was great. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I had a twin room, sure it was small but that's a capsule hotel so... It was expected. However it was very confortable (and the shower is more than great). I highly recommand this place.

I stayed in a twin room. The model follows a Japanese traditional room, but surely in miniature. The room is very very very very small. There is a luggage compartment under the beds, but it has wood smelling that stuck on your clothes. The bathroom is inside the room and offers no privacy if you are travelling in couples, no... More

Capsule Ryokan provides guests with a comprehensive folder explaining all about itself and Kyoto in general, which is interesting reading and shows that someone is clearly invested in making this a convenient hotel in downtown Kyoto. It's a short walk from the station and the staff will also explain bus routes nearby too. The rooms are everything you need, magically... More

I stayed one night in a capsule and one night in a tatami room. Both excellent. Quiet, clean, spacious, functional. Spacious capsule, 8 such in a room, server by 2 bathrooms and 2 shower rooms. Kitchenette, lockers, luggage storage, WiFi. Excellent staff: helpful and fluent in English ! The proper distance from the JR station.
