Our staay for 10 days in April 2014 in this Bed and dreakfast was very nice. The rooms are on the top floor, in a very quiet area of Kyot, close to the Botanical Gardens and the Concert Building. Bus connections are excellent and the metro station is a 4 minute walk. Acco-San and het friend John are very nice... More

We stayed for 5 nights at Kaguraya Bed and Breakfast. It's located in the northern part of the city near the Kitayama subway station. We were only a short subway or bus trip from the city centre and many of the wonderful heritage sites around Kyoto. The century old house is located within a short walk of the Kyoto Botanical... Very friendly and comfy accomodation, the house is beautiful and traditional, our room was large with enough space for 6 people (we were 3) and it is decorated with very good taste. The breakfast is abundant and delicious, european style, and ms Acco is an enchanting person, speaks great english and is very good giving advice about how to move... More

We stayed at Kaguraya twice, for 5 nights and 9 nights. The hosts, John and Acco, are very kind, knowledgeable and helpful. The house is in a quiet and lovely cultural precinct near the Symphony Concert Hall and Botanical Gardens and a quick subway or bus trip to Kyoto downtown. There are eating places nearby. The house is charming and... More

I stayed at Kaguraya B&B with my partner and a friend. The property is the host's house, with the upper floor rented to visitors. There's a choice of a single room or a two room suite. The bathroom and toilet are downstairs. The hosts are very friendly and super helpful with suggestions of what to see around Kyoto, how to... More

we were very glad to have stayed at Kaguraya B&B. The hosts were wonderful and we felt as though we were special guests. The advice they gave made our first trip to Japan quite special. I loved the location and being in a home made it even better. We were there for two weeks.

Staying at Kaguraya is really staying in someone's house--a nice, relatively big traditional Japanese house in a nice residential neighborhood. The owners are nice, one American and one Japanese, both fluent in English and very helpful. The location is good, a 15 minute walk to the river, 10 minutes from Kitayama subway station, and an hour's walk from the center... More

John and Akua (not sure how to spell her name) made us feel right at home. We had a toddler, three smaller children, a teenager and my wife's aunt with us. They didn't bat an eye. It felt like we had old friends living in Kyoto that we could call on at a moment's notice.

Hosts The owner and his wife speak excellent English and are friendly without being overbearing. However, they will not go out of their way to be your tour guide unless you initiate. When you do ask questions, though, they answer everything gladly. Rooms The house is old and full of charm. The stairs are narrow and steep, the walls are... More
