Takes about 15min walking from the Central station (the website has a very good guide on how to find this place). Nagomi is on a quiet street, in a lovely neighbourhood and the staff are friendly. Did not rent bikes from Nagomi, but I think it would be great for getting around. We did go on a bike tour while... More

Nagomi is not for those seeking space, luxury and five star service. But if you want an authentic machi ya experience and really BE in japan, you will love this place as it is charming. You will sleep on the tatami floor, sit on the tatami floor and be in a quiet, typical neighborhood. All the staff speak english and... More

Staff was very helpful during our stay, they provided us handy tips for sightseeing and recommended us to his fav Ramen place in town. Location of the hostel can be a good walk from main road, we rented a bike for 500yen for the day and that make it so much easier for us to get around town. Breakfast from... More

We chose Nagomi as wanted to try a Ryokan on our stay and this had decent reviews. We had a great stay for 3 nights. The rooms are of decent size and even when the futons were rolled out we had enough space for 3 suitcases (1 large & 2 small). We didn't really hear any noise from other rooms... More

Its an experience to stay in a ryokan. Very small room, paper thin wall, make your own bed kinda place. Saying that I slept very well there. Staff are quite nice and helpful. Free wifi when we were there. We had breakfast on the first day but found a restaurant on the main road that serves the same thing cheaper.... More

We stayed there a couple of times and we can't think of staying anywhere else in Kyoto. Good location, not far from kyoto station, quite easy to find, reasonable prices, the rooms are not very big, but the very friendly staff, you can ask them anything and they will do their best to help. Sleep on futons, they have both... More

Converted from an old Kyoto "town house" (machiya), this hostel is a small but perfectly formed gem of Japanese hospitality. Featuring tatami rooms, pocket gardens, and an "onsen" (outdoor bath) that you can rent just for you or with your travel companions, we'd definitely be back on our next trip to Kyoto!

A nice, quiant ryokan. Great breakfast although since the breakfast area is small, you don't have the luxury to take your time eating especially if the ryokan is fully booked. The staffs in traditional japanese clothes are very friendly and can speak decent english. It's a bit of a walk from the bustling Kyoto station especially if you have quite... More

We enjoyed our stay here very much! It was quaint, clean & friendly. We liked the area that it was in, which was quiet but interesting. We enjoyed looking at the little businesses in the surrounding lanes. It was within walking distance of some large temples, shops & the main station. We caught a taxi from the station, but this... First of all I will say that I highly recommend this hostel to anybody looking for a traditional, relaxed atmosphere in a great location of Kyoto. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, and the rooms and facilities are very clean and quiet. Peaceful escape from the city, yet great access to buses, Kyoto Station, and the subway line.
