Six years ago myself and my wife stayed in the Duo Inn and we both thought it fantastic as it was extremely comfortable in all aspects at a very good price. I returned alone this spring for one week after walking the Kumano Kodo trails on the KII peninsula. Again I found the same great welcome and high standard of... More

I recently finished my second stay at Duo Inn - approximately seven weeks this year - and six last year. Obviously to stay a second time I was pleased last year. Although not in the 'downtown' area, it is convenient to numerous buses within a couple of blocks, and a JR train line about ten minutes walk, the Randen line... More

Our family of 4 had a great 7 night stay @ Duo Inn,the room was clean & comfortable & the manager Yoshi was fantastic. It is only 3 train stops from Kyoto @ Enmachi then either a 15 min walk or 600 yen taxi or bus for 240 yen .There is the golden temple only 15 minute walk away plus... More

i stayed in this property for 2 weeks and i must say that i'm very satisfied. the room was very clean and well organised. the location provides very quick access to the public transportation system of kyoto as well as places to eat/shop. when the cost of staying is taken into account in my view it is a bargain. i... I stayed in Duo Inn for 8 days with my two sisters for the Sakura. The place was in a quite neighborhood. Within a very short walking distance, we had easy accesses to good Japanese restaurants, and big supermarkets. Several buses just around the corners go to Kyoto Station, which takes about 20-25 minutes. The room was very clean and... More

We really enjoyed our 6 day stay in Kyoto. Duo Inn is located in the NorthWest area of Kyoto so the location is not super central but if confident negotiating public transport you can access all of the city and surrounding areas via a combination of trains and buses. The room was very clean and comfortable with everything needed for... More

Clean, kind, economical, and set in a great location! Minutes away from Kinkaku-ji and right next to the train line to Arashiyama, this place turned out to be wonderfully accessible. It is about 45 minutes away from downtown Kyoto by bus, but that didn't turn out to be a problem since there are buses that run straight there. The manager... More

I decided to book a room after reading good reviews from the Duo Inn and it met all my expectations. The place is very clean and it has all the commodities. The small kitchen is great to prepare simple meals. The beds are very comfortable. There are various bus stops near the Inn and the closest train station is just... More

I stayed at Duo Inn solo for 34 days in November-December 2014. The rooms come with large balcony and a kitchenette. My room was very quiet, v. clean – spotless. The real asset of Duo Inn is its manager Mr. Yoshi – who speaks perfect English. He went way out of his way to help with my sightseeing/travel plans, shopping... More

Stayed here with a friend whilst travelling in Japan, fantastic place for a base to travel in and around Kyoto. Our room was spotlessly clean, en suite, kitchen area, large balcony, well equipped for all our needs. Very close to bus stops, restaurants and supermarket. Yoshi the manager was very helpful. Would definitely reccommend travellers to stay here and will... More

Staying in Nishijin District

Neighborhood Profile
Nishijin District
A district with a long textile heritage, ancient Kyoto is still alive in the Nishijin District. Studded with its weaving factories, tea houses, and onsen, the neighborhood is charming and peaceful with a self-possessed air. Less traveled than other parts of the city, it is a district where you can take it at your own pace. Visitors can explore the many weaving and cloth houses, the free kimono shows, and the many shops selling traditional clothing and goods. Showcasing architecture with sloping roofs and wooden reliefs dating to decades past, the streets in the Nishijin District transport you back in time, making them a joy to wander.
