I stayed in Kyoto at the Duo Inn for 12 nights in November 2015. It was clean and just as it had been described in the promotional information I received before my visit. Yoshi (manager) is a great advocate and assistant at the Duo Inn. His english is very good and he went out of his way to be helpful.... More

My husband and I stayed at Duo Inn for 8 nights in November and we had a great time. Though it's located far from Kyoto station (about 35 minutes on bus), commuting within Kyoto by public transportation is easy. We enjoyed the village ambience and the inexpensive eateries serving yummy Japanese food (recommended by Yoshi the manager). He speaks fluent... More

My wife and I spent 4 days at the Duo Inn in Nov 2015 and were thrilled by the excellent service of the Manager. He spent an enormous amount of time to explain the facilities, the nearby surroundings, the best transport arrangements. On the last day, he pulled his back and was in enormous pain but his enthusiasm and passion... More

Six years ago myself and my wife stayed in the Duo Inn and we both thought it fantastic as it was extremely comfortable in all aspects at a very good price. I returned alone this spring for one week after walking the Kumano Kodo trails on the KII peninsula. Again I found the same great welcome and high standard of... More

I recently finished my second stay at Duo Inn - approximately seven weeks this year - and six last year. Obviously to stay a second time I was pleased last year. Although not in the 'downtown' area, it is convenient to numerous buses within a couple of blocks, and a JR train line about ten minutes walk, the Randen line... More

Staying in Nishijin District

Neighborhood Profile
Nishijin District
A district with a long textile heritage, ancient Kyoto is still alive in the Nishijin District. Studded with its weaving factories, tea houses, and onsen, the neighborhood is charming and peaceful with a self-possessed air. Less traveled than other parts of the city, it is a district where you can take it at your own pace. Visitors can explore the many weaving and cloth houses, the free kimono shows, and the many shops selling traditional clothing and goods. Showcasing architecture with sloping roofs and wooden reliefs dating to decades past, the streets in the Nishijin District transport you back in time, making them a joy to wander.
