They recommend me this as a ryokan, by the first place it is not a ryokan it is a super star hotel, but well the location is amazing and the place where it is located is sooo beautiful, but my experience was terrible. They show in internet a room that you think is the room with that view, because you... More

Great staff and service all around the hotel. Very luxurious room and truly stands out in its quality of ambience. Every where you go in the hotel project a feeling of tranquility and a mood of calm. The kaiseki dinner is worth spending as part of the total experience to enjoy the hotel. Some of the food presentation is just... More

We stayed here last week and had a lovely restfull break looking at the autumn leaves. The Japanese breakfast was exceptional. When we left I forgot my passport - left in the room. I discovered this in Tokyo, the staff has already sent th epassport to our hotel in Tokyo where it arrived the next day. Exceptional service from a... More

I'm expecting to stay at Hoshinoya years ago but, can't find any room in that moment. This time was 4 nights online reserved by my wife, both of us travel from Bangkok to Osaka, then send our luggages to Hoshinoya by JAL ABC service. We took JR local trains to going around and meet some friends at Kyoto before heading... More

Hoshinoya is a delight. The welcoming is warm and genuine. The facilities and amenities are luxurious. The arrival by boat creates the appropriate relaxed mood. We stayed 5 nights. This was a little long. Two or three nights would be ideal. This is a place for relaxation and serenity. There are not a lot of facilities in the immediate area.... More

We had done our research so we knew that Hoshinoya Kyoto was pretty isolated. Yes, it is inconvenient if you want to visit Kyoto's major sights but I loved the quiet and serenity away from the madding crowd. It wasn't difficult or very expensive to take a taxicab between the hotel and downtown Kyoto. The first night we arrived too... More

This is just an outstanding experience, where the attention to detail perfects a stay already inspired by the immensely beautiful surroundings. Chef Kubota's modern take on Kyoto Kaiseki leaves you wanting for more (not more than the 16 courses...) and truly deserves the accolades that a quick google search throws up. Coming back one day....

I stayed here one night to break up my one week stay in Kyoto. I wanted to try a quieter area of Kyoto without having to travel way out into the countryside. The check in is glorious as it is a boat that shuttles you from its own special quay at the bridge and there is a little building where... More

There is so much I could say about Hoshinoya Kyoto but to sum up our experience I would say outstanding. There is a boat that runs throughout the day and a separate lounge area to wait in, the moment we entered we were offered a cold towel to freshen up and iced tea, a very welcome break from the 40c... Hoshinoya is the perfect place to enjoy a pleasant stay in Kyoto. It is apart from the centre but that´s precisely why it is so impressive. Staying by the river next to the bamboos wood is an unforgettable experience. Not to talk about the wonderful kaiseki (haute cuisine typical from Kyoto) and the amazing premises. The staff is wonderful, polite... More
