We stayed there during the cheery blossom season. The house is in the middle of the park, it was a pleasant walk everyday going out and coming back. The host was very nice and helpful. We learnt lots of good tips of what to see and where to eat etc. We would love going back again!

We stayed at Haragaguchi-san's apartment, after finding that the Salon wasn't available for our dates. What a great find!! After staying at about 6 places in Japan, we agreed that when you take into account price, size, comforts and location, this was the best accommodation we had. The Salon house would have been shared with another family, but the apartment... More

Haraguchi sama and his lovely wife are friendly and kindly. We have a great time in Kyoto. The location is nearby the Kiyomizu Temple. It's also convenient to take bus to everywhere of the city.

We stayed here in January for three nights and could not have been happier. It was very cold in Kyoto and the accommodation is simple but well heated in the rooms and the futons were comfortable. The location and the history of the building is what makes this place. We could walk to many of the sites as well as... More

We stayed 4 nights at Kiyomizu tenseian. Its a really nice apartment (pretty big, 4 rooms/2 bedroom and a bathroom) close to the goyozaka bus stop (1 min walking) and to all temples in higashiyama and gion (all easily accessible walking). Takushi is for sure the best host you can find. He gave us a lot of amazing informations about... More

Stayed in this house located within the park a while ago but the good memories are still there. Amazing location in the park which was not difficult to navigate, beautiful, spacious house that was not cold in early spring with abundance of heaters and blankets, good value for money and a friendly host with extremely useful advice on good places... My wife and I sent 11 nights in this lovely old house on the edge of Muruyama Park and enjoyed it thoroughly. It is quiet, comfortable, conveniently located (a short walk to Gion and 10 minutes through the park to Shijo dori the main shopping street) and we had the whole house to ourselves. We were here in mid November... More

I've been lucky enough to stay in some wonderful places over my life, and this is without doubt one of the best. It's like walking back in history as you walk through the door. Old houses are rare in Japan, and this feels old as soon as you walk in. The wear shows in places, so if you're looking for... More

Amazing place to stay! We stayed here for 5 days and it was such a special part of our Kyoto experience. The ryokan is actually a 100 year old house, that we were fortunate enough to have to ourselves. The house is absolutely beautiful and full of character - we felt at home there right away. The location is towards... More
