Our stay with Mr. and Mrs Haraguchi was the highlight of our visit to Japan. The house is situated in a large park in the center of Kyoto so you have the lovely surroundings of a park and within minutes walking are in the heart of the city. The house is traditional so a great experience for us, with tatami... More

My taxi driver was pretty confident that he could find Salon Haraguchi Tenseian but ended up calling Mrs Haraguchi for direction. Well, as per Mr Haraguchi’s description: it’s a secret hideaway!!! This is my first trip to Japan and I felt most privileged to have the opportunity to stay in a 100 year old Mahciya. I didn’t get what Mrs... More

Our stay at salon Haraguchi Tenseian, was really amazing. Compared to a traditional hotel it is obviously a world of difference (staying at a ryokan). The house is very old and almost entirely made of wood. The location and atmosphere is probably the best thing about this place. It is located in a park which looks more like a forest... More

We stayed 5 nights in the Tenseian Haraguchi pottery studio. Mr. and Mrs. Haraguchi were wonderful hosts. Their recommendations of the local area proved excellent and Mr. Haraguchi even took us out on two occasions to his favourite spots in Kyoto. I couldn't recommend this accommodation more- clean, serviced daily, excellent location and superb value for money. Faultless.

Thanks a lot to Haraguchi-San. He was very hospitable and took care of us for the 2 days we have stayed at Salon Haraguchi. Location of this accommodation is amazing with some of the best areas to visit really close by. His recommendations on where to go, what to see and eat are definitely very valuable (I loved the hand... More

The Japanese style design inside the house is delicate and beautiful. The hotel owner Haraguchi san couple hoped that we could have a good rest, so we can live in the house all by ourselves. It is a great stay for two persons. Haraguchi san was very helpful and friendly, he gave us a lot of advice about restaurants and... More

Our family of 4 (2 teenagers) stayed at Kiyomizu Tenseian in June. This is the apartment located in Kyoto near Haraguchi san's house. Mr and Mrs Haraguchi instructed us to call him when we arrived at Kyoto station, and after a short taxi ride, met us curbside. They walked us to the apartment, where Mr. Haraguchi took the time to... I love Kyoto for the old and the new. This house is a bit of the relative old. It is about a hundred years old and was built to the high standards of the time. I am a contractor and woodworker so I'm aware of the detail and appreciate the mastery of the craftsmanship. I feel it is a privilege... More

Allthough arriving in the middle of the famous Gion festival we were lucky to get this place all by ourselves. The owners were very friendly and helpful. They even drove us in their car to see some of Kyoto's most famous sites. The room was very clean and quiet. In the morning we got a fantastic traditional Japanees breakfast. The... More
