The serene location, onsen bath with spring water, and Japanese hospitality makes this Ryokan ideal. Yoshimizu (i.e. Mizu means water) is located in the forest, about 20 minute walk through the park to "old" Kyoto. Our cab driver did not know where it was--which is great because the place is tranquil. Stay at Yoshimizu, enjoy the onsen and you will... More

One of the highlights during our trip, if you really want to experience a real Ryokan this is definitely the place, it has a really convenient location to stay at Kyoto because of all of the points of interest nearby and the beautiful scenery of old Kyoto. The Ryokan itself is beautiful, rooms (Tatami) are comfortable and it is a... More

A lovely old inn - full of quirks. The quietest and most serene setting. The staff are the best especially the host Takahashi-san. You need to get used to the footwear protocols but a lovely place to stay.

We loved out stay at Yoshimizu, stayed for 5 nights. Staff very welcoming & extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Rustic old place with peaceful atmosphere in the hills & close to temples. We enjoyed our walk through Marujama park in the morning & evening on our way to & from the Inn. Yummy brekkie was great start to... More

This isn't for everyone, but if you want a real Japanese ryokan experience, the Yoshimizu is great. It is located in a most traditional area, near the shrines and the ancient sections of Kyoto, but that is why you go to Kyoto. It is within walking distance of the top rated attraction, the Kiyomizu temple, plus a number of other... More

comfortable and well-organised detail. A very good place to stay and relax, the staffs are just like friends and willing to provide kind services. The charge is quite affordable and we even stayed one more night due to amazement.

It's situated inside a park behind the Yasaka shrine. It's a very traditional Japanese Inn in which you may experience making your own bedding on tatami and taking a shower and or bath in a shared bathroom. It's shared but you won't use it at the same time with any strangers. The bathroom is big with two shower sets and... More

This little inn locates in the maruyamacho park, around 8 minutes walk from the yasaka shrine and 10 minutes from the gion station. You can experience traditional tatami sleep-in, make your own futon bedding. Very elegant and simple breakfast. Not the most convenient location-wise, but a really great option for those who want to enjoy a unique Kyoto experience. Bring... More

This traditional Japanese inn has one of the most beautiful locations of any place I've ever stayed--set high into the park in Kyoto, it's a very scenic 5-10 minute walk to Gion and a few steps away from Chion-in. I can't say enough about the fabulous location. The traditional rooms are lovely, and the staff are amazingly friendly. The bathrooms... More

Yes, a beautiful place, great accommodation in a very peaceful spot, at the back of Maruyama park. Just a 15 min walk through a beautiful park to the main street and buses or just walk left or right to amazing Kyoto.Staff where very helpful and the place just had a very nice, laid back feel to it. And to top... More
