Not the most hygienic because there aren't sinks to wash your hands on every floor. Staff is rarely around, but were there to check me in and out so that was fine. Very easy to find as its right on the river. Bed was comfortable enough. Computer was frustratingly slow, but had a comfortable seat, you've got to look for... More

We choose this Hostel mainly due to price though happy we did. Travelling with 3 teenage children and enjoyed the change from hotels. The Positves: Close to Gion. 5 min walk to bus stops for many local bus routes, didn't use Metro train though even closer than bus. Not many rooms so quiet and considerate guests whilst we where there.... More

Location is convenient, yes. About 5 min walk from train station. Near also to Nishiki Market, Gion (where the geisha's are) and "downtown" after crossing the bridge. The place is good for the budget too. We arrived very late in the evening and found it nice yet worrying that they jut left our "keys" outside the door attentioned to the... More

This hostel offered extreme value for money and the quality of service offered was great! I booked this hostel through its other branch in tokyo and got a great discount so it was already in my good books but when i got here it had so much more to offer. I stayed in the 8-bed dorm on the third floor... More

I found this hotel a very good option for my stay in kyoto as it was only a short walk to the main hustle and bustle and great nightlife. There are a number of restaurants, temples and bars just a ten minute walk away which make this hostel a great choice! The owners have another bakpak hostel in tokyo with... More

Seriously, this is the best hostel I've ever been too!! I visited Kyoto in July 2011 and stayed 2 nights (would have loved to stay longer) at this hostel, which is in the old part of Kyoto called "Gion". I slept in a 4-bed mixed dorm. The dorm was clean and tidy, the beds were - for hostel standards -... More

It's a good option if you are looking for a cheap place to stay in a nice spot of the city. Very central. The guy who works there, Yugo, is really nice and he will give you all information about the places to visit

My Friend and I were worries about staying in hostels in Japan but we were pleasantly surprised how great this hostel was. On the outside this hostel looked really dodgy and we were freaking out thinking it was going to be really dirty but as soon as we walked in we were greeted by really friendly staff who were very... Stayed for one night with a friend in a 4 bed dorm room. One other person there. No lockers but we felt like our stuff was safe (the other person was an elderly man). Location is great on the east side of the city. Walking distance to shrines (rent a bike while there though and you can get anywhere) and... More
