Iresidentialfirst solo travel and this place was recommended to me. I booked it through Hostelworld and inadvertently booked for a day later than I actually arrived. Instead of turning me away because they were full, they made up a room in their own house for my first night. The rooms are very comfortable, the kitchen well equipped, there are bikes... More

What more can I say that hasn't been said here? This place is just wonderful. I have traveled quite a bit in several different countries and it is no exaggeration when I say that this is the most pleasant place where I have ever stayed. The words "home away from home" are often used by many hotels and guesthouses, but... More

We stayed here for 3 nights and found the traditional setting wonderful. The guest house is located ~1.2 km from Kitaoji station which can be walked fairly easily, although a bus would be ideal if you are carrying a lot of luggage. There is also a main road nearby (2 min walk from the guest house) and a number of... More

This fabulous little guesthouse was a dream to return to after hectic sightseeing days among the crowds. Kazo the owner is a lovely man - so very welcoming and informative and nothing was too much trouble. Very helpful too with supplying bus routes and ideas for places to visit. He is a real mine of information and I loved the... More

The owner of the guest house picked me up from the train station. A superman. He is the tour guide, driver, cleaner and receptionist. Room is average size for single. Love the communal room where I met other travelers and shared tips and interesting stories. It takes approx 10 minutes to get to nearest bus stops. Along the way to... More

Yes, it is not near the Kyoto station. It takes 30-45 minutes to get there but I love it. I love the traditional atmosphere. The bed on the floor, the tatami, the ordinary kitchen, the wooden sandals to the toilet, the traditional sliding doors and the hospitality of the owner. I also like all the writing giving you instructions how... More

This review is late already I stayed in Bon Guesthouse in Summer 2013. The owner is a friendly helpful guy who takes care of his guests in all details. I stayed here for 1 whole week with 4 days having the whole house myself since it was low season. The tatami and mattress in the room are in top quality,... More

This is the most impressive guesthouse of our trip to Japan. The host "Taniguchi-San" is very kind and helpful and he can speak English very well. He picked up us at the Kitaoji Station and escorted us to Kyoto Station when we checked out. He explained how to travel in Kyoto quiet clear. He took care us like relative. The... More

Located in the northern end of Kyoto city it is in a small side street surrounded by residential homes. If you like being around the locals when you travel rather then the tourist hordes I would choose this guest house. The owner (who's name I forgot.. oops) is friendly and very helpful. He knows the best public transport connections to... More

I agree with the other reviewers. Mr Bon is extremely helpful, his English is good, the location is in a quiet neighborhood near a Zen Monastery and 600mt to the bus stop. We had no leaks in the roof during the typhoon rains. His kitchen is well equipped with a large refrigerator for you to store food. I would highly recommend... More
