Staying in a ryokan is definitely a "must- do" in Kyoto and Nishikiro does not disappoint. Absolutely loved the tatame matress, the quimonos in the room and the green tea waiting for us every night after a long day sightseeing. It is also very well located, just a short walk from Kyoto Station.

I stayed 3 nights in September 2014 and really enjoyed my stay. The ryokan is next to the Kyoto station and easily accessible. Even though it's close to the station, it's on a quiet street with easy access to restaurants nearby. The staff is great and very attentive. I had sent my luggage ahead from Tokyo and it was waiting... More

Think of this property more of an inn and you'd get a more accurate view of this place. Easy to find, just behind Lawson's near Yodobashi - walkable from Kyoto Station. Look for Kyoto Tower as a landmark to get there. If you're looking for a central location with lots of food choices and are aiming to use the bus... More

This is an excellent hotel in every way. The service is particularly outstanding from all staff. In terms of cleanliness, beauty and location also it is very good. It just made me feel relaxed upon arrival. Wish to thank to all the staffs for going the extra mile to make my stay perfect.

Staff were super friendly and attentive. Very nice people. Very close to the station (though this is by no means the most interesting place to be in Kyoto. Nevertheless, rent some bikes from the lovely guy that the Ryokan recommend, and its easy to get around) Literally paper thin walls, so the hairdryers in the hallway can be testing. But,... More

Our family stayed here in November 2012 for 1 night. We made our bookings through booking.com. The family that managed this was extremely friendly and helpful. The lady even telephoned our hotel in Hiroshima to reconfirm our bookings and let them know that we would check in late. The location of this hotel is extremely good - about 5 minutes... More

My wife and I spent two weeks in Japan, and 3 nights in Kyoto. We wanted to try a traditional hotel (Ryokan) somewhere during our trip, and research led me to decide that it should be in Kyoto. We tried to book a couple other Ryokans before we found a vacancy at Nishikiro. If I am lucky enough to return... More

We liked our stay in Nishikiro. Room could have been bigger but there was enough room for two people and two suitcases. We chose shared bathroom (Japanese experience ;-)) and it was good. The small garden is beautiful and the staff very nice and helpful. They do not have dinner service however. It was not our first option (others were... More

The room and the common areas were very clean. The koi pond on the premises was beautiful and added a touch of “nature” to the place. The owner was very helpful. Loved that the ryokan was very close to the Kyoto station and quite easy to locate.
