Value: as a business hotel, El Inn is very reasonably priced. At my last stay, the room was only $60/night. The hotel offers a reasonably priced breakfast buffet (about $10), and has good laundry and vending facilities. Elbow room: you can stand in the middle of the room and are UNABLE to touch the walls, which is a welcome and... More

It is only a few minutes walk from the Kyoto station. The hotel room was clean and quite spacious compared to other hotels we stayed in. The staff were also very helpful and we would stay here again if we are back in Kyoto. A small problem I encountered during my stay there was that there was quite a big... More

When entering the hotel premises you get a feeling of quality and service level which usually requires a higher price to obtain. Good design, no wear and tear, professional staff, nice room and bed, good breakfast, nice lobby for working or entertaining your visitors. The hotel is easy to find if you arrive in underground tunnels, as it is located... More

The El Inn is an interesting place. Of course, the room was clean, but it also smelled of cigarette smoke. Not enough to change rooms, but I thought we'd asked for a non-smoking room. Well, the room was so clean, so.....no biggie. The staff was helpful and polite. The hotel is well-located for transportation. The breakfast was just okay. Even... More

Good mattress, very clean and comparatively big room. Just a bit noisy as my room is right in front of the railway. I must have to close the wood shade to eliminate the noise from the moving trains. Good location where just next to the Kyoto station, airport limousine stops at the road right in front of the hotel.

Staying in Southern Kyoto

Neighborhood Profile
Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens, temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers, picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the mountain's off-set paths aren't frequented by tourists, and the mountain's serenity can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Southern Kyoto is the place to enjoy being outside, and to pay your respects to the ancient architecture and gods of the land that are celebrated here.
