We stayed here for a few nights on our honeymoon. The staff were very friendly abd made a lot of effort even though their English was limited. The tourist maps they gave us were invaluable on our visit. The room was a nice size and we were glad to pick a room with our own toilet. The ryokan is well... More

I can warmly recommend Yamamoto Ryokan to any traveler (except maybe someone elderly having trouble climbing stairs to the first floor). The ryokan was easy to book online through japanican, everything was in English. They provide wifi in the lobby, however, it reached as well to our room which was nice. This was not the fanciest ryokan I've ever stayed in, but there was a lot I really liked. 1) It was with-in walking distance of many wonderful sites in Kyoto.
