For a Ryokan that offers no included meals and no in-room onsen, there is little that can salvage the experience. The atmosphere lacks authenticity and the lobby doesn't feel like an inn or hotel at all. The bathrooms weren't exactly clean and the beds weren't particularly comfortable. The room was very spacious however, and ver loved the dogs. Can't strongly... More

I took the Yasaka Shuttle Service from the Kansai Airport and it sent me directly to Gion Sano without stress. Stayed at the ryokan for 2 nights. I was served with tea and cake on arrival in the room. The room was spacious, clean and most importantly it was quiet as I am a light sleeper. The room was cosy... More

The location of this Ryokan couldn't have been better, in the centre of Gion with it's array of temples and idyllic streets. The staff were so polite and friendly, we loved the warm welcome and the little treats they put in our room each day. The bathroom was quite cold but the shower and facilities were very good. The futons... More

My family and I spent three nights in this ryokan recently and we enjoyed our stay immensely. Our booking was made through booking.com and two days before we arrived, I received an email asking for our ETA. On the day of arrival, we took a taxi from the train station in Kyoto as we traveled by shinkansen from Tokyo. Our... More

In the heart of kyoto typical neighborhoods, near the biggest attractions of the city. This ryokan with several floors, is more big than usual ryokan but the family is so nice, and the room so clean, it's not matter. excellent value for money.

This family run Ryokan was great. We were served tea and fruit by the owner on arrival in our room, which was spacious and clean. The futons were laid out by staff while we were out for dinner. Additional mattresses are available if you need any extra padding. The hotel is located next door to the Yasaka shrine and several... More

I chose to stay at a family-like Ryokan for my first night in Kyoto to get more information and guidance on how to explore the city since I was a solo-traveler. They were very helpful and accommodating - even took me out on the street to show me directions. There was an English-speaking staff and a Chinese staff, so I... More

Fabulous location with family owned ryokan on a quiet side street but in the heart of Gion area, with gorgeous traditional wooden buildings, shrines and temples very close by - not to mention a few pretty Maiko who were seen in surrounding streets. Lovely hosts - very welcoming, and helpful. Beautiful tatami mat rooms w dreamlike futons, yukata and pamper... More

This was our first ryokan experience. A very friendly family run concern, very helpful, English not too good. Lovely location in the old part of kyoto, good for walking around and close to buses. Very clean, nice touches, a snack box with tea and coffee, biscuits. Fresh flowers in the room.water and a fresh fruit surprise in the evening after our... More

Great Japanese traditional lodge (Ryokan) in the heart of ancient Kyoto's gion area, walk out the hotel and you will think you have traveled back 200 years with its narrow streets, other Ryokans, temples, shops and restaurants and many Geisha in traditional Kimono. Friendly english speaking staff. Traditional Japanese tatami room only furniture is a low table with hot water... More
