When my wife booked us a stay at a Ryokan, I didn't really have a way to prepare myself for the experience. The hotel is in modern building near center of Kyoto, Rokkakudo Temple. The interior and service of hotel is Japanese style. Japanese hotels are already nice, clean & beautifully made, with such great aesthetics. But this one was INSANE it felt soooo luxurious; traditional huge rooms with even a small garden outside. I was expecting a slightly more traditional ryokan, the rooms are very modern. We were upgraded to a suite which by Japanese standards was extremely spacious.
