My partner and I stayed for one night during our trip to Kyoto as we wanted to experience a traditional Japanese ryokan. Rooms were fairly comfortable and came with a sink and toilet. There are 3 shower rooms which are shared among all the guests. Dinner was a stellar experience, food was very interesting and nothing like what we've ever... More

I LOVED this ryokan, this was my first destination of my 18 day holiday in Japan, and by far the best!! i simply loved everything about this ryokan, it made Kyoto even more special. The best thing about Izuyasu was chef Yasujurou, we had 2 kaiseki dinner here, and as a chef, it was just so magical to experience a... More

Stayed in here for two nights with my friend. The room was very great with very traditional Japanese style design. The staffs are very welcoming and the hotel itself is really close to Kyoto station, so you can actually just walk there. If you want to experience Japanese living style, you definitely should stay here!

Stayed here for one night and we loved it. The location is perhaps not the most tranquil (with a car park directly opposite), but once you step inside the ryokan, you feel like you're in a different world. The ryokan was built over 150 years ago, and was sympathetically renovated a few years ago. The room was cosy but well... More

Stayed a night with Kaiseki dinner. Excellent Kaiseki with very attentive staff. Room was cosy with separate room with table and chairs where breakfast served. The breakfast was also quite enjoyable. We had a traditional Japanese breakfast, being in Japan, which was also quite tasty. The only drawback was that the inn was cold. I saw that the building had... More

If you are looking for a sublime experience commensurate with the serene beauty of Kyoto or if you are looking to recreate the quietude of a classic Yasujiro Ozu film, this is an intimate and meticulously run place I can heartily recommend. During a recent trip to Japan, I was intent on spending a night in a traditional ryokan where... More

If you wish to experience a stay at a genuine Japanese Inn, Ryokan Izuhasu is an excellent choice. It will cost more than a hotel, but it is worth it. The staff are all friendly and helpful even though only one speaks good English. The rooms have comfortable beds with a private sink and toilet in the room and shower/Japanese... More

This ryokan has an elegant setting close to the train station & artfully decorated in the zen style. The staff is very unobtrusive & polite. Rooms are beautifully appointed with comfort & quality. Every convenience one expects in a ryokan is given. Breakfast is inclusive. Tofu & a poached egg were prepared as protein along with rice, pickled vegetables, miso... More

We enjoyed Japanese fine dining at its best. The chef prepares an amazing traditional dinner with a variety of delicacies- simple yet each mouthful is tantalizing. Chef Yasujito Izutsu is charming and explains every dish in detail. He combines flavors and spices which would delight any palate. Ours was an evening to remember for ambience, flavors and textures. Highly recommended.

We spent 4 nights at this charming, traditional, and comfortable ryokan. Japanese breakfast was included and each day it differed-- all delicious. We treated ourselves to a kei seki dinner prepared in front of us by the master chef. The staff were gracious and helpful. Highly recommend.
