We stayed here just one night to have the Ryokan experience before leaving Kyoto. We chose this one because it was close to Kyoto station to catch a train the next morning. We enjoyed our experience but thought it was a bit pricey for what you get. It's lovely and modern but you get the Japanese experience at the same... More

This was one of many places I stayed on my Japanese Honeymoon. This ryokan was located a short walk from Kyoto station on one of the alleys. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. It was very rainy when were were there, and when they noticed we only had one umbrella they wouldn't let us leave without a second one.... More

Izuyasu is centrally located: only 7 minutes walking distance from the Kyoto central station). The moment you step in you are instantly immersed into the traditional japanese zen spirit. No shoes, no shouting, no busy receptions. Tranquility rules and efficient service. The staff is extremely helpful. We managed to speak quite a lot to the chef and the owner of... More

Excellent ryokan. Nice traditional wooden building, great room, quite big for Japanese standards, with even a small garden. Very well located at the center of the city. It offers a pure japanese experience with meals served in the room (excellent), typical common bathroom, bed consisting in a thin futon laid on the tatami floor, and so on. Very friendly staff... Spent 3 days in March 2012 there. It was a nice reception by the family and the room was excellent. there was a small bathroom but it was too cold so I decided to use the tradition japanese bath installation they have and it was just perfect after a day of intense walking. There is a green tea set in... More

The owners/staff made every effort to make sure my stay (first time at a ryokan) was a pleasant and comfortable one. They were friendly and welcoming. A pot of green tea and a sweet were served as soon as I'd checked in. The young woman was very nice and taught me some Japanese words as she served me a delicious... More

The Ryokan Izuyasu is the second Ryokan I have stayed in and the only I’ve stayed in in Kyoto. The staff was very friendly. The inn is located in central Kyoto and is only a 10 min walk from Kyoto Central Station. The hotel has a great traditional feel but our room was a bit more basic than I expected... More

We stayed at 3 places in Kyoto. Izuyasu was the most expensive & so our expectations were naturally high but we were disappointed. Our corner room facing the back seemed rundown & in need of repairs (the sliding cupboard was not attached & just propped up). The staff were not rude but nor were particularly attentive. The female bathroom was... More

We stayed for one night in on Christmas Eve and were very happy with our experience. I stayed in a much bigger ryokan on a previous trip to Kyoto so this is was nice change as it was a small family-owned one which made it much more personal. It is close to Kyoto Station and is in a really nice... More

I'm a Japanese person who stayed at Izuyasu with my American friend. I recommended him to stay at a ryokan in order to have true Japanese experience while his visit to Japan, and he chose this ryokan based on the reputation. We were both extremely satisfied. It is a traditional style Japanese accommodation. So, if you want a modern luxury... More
