We stayed here for one night to enjoy the Ryokan experience; and how fabulous it was too! It is located a good 10-minute stroll up the way from Kyoto Railway Station, and was relatively easy to find. The originality of the structure was something to be admired, as was the greeting we received. Our room was excellent, the layout -... More

The best food in kyoto can be found at this ryokan for breakfast and dinner - healthy Japanese food with lots of fish and vegetables. Beds were comfortable. Baths were so hot and relaxing. Owners are lovely Japanese family with history dating back to 175 years ( 7 generations).

The location of this ryokan is great, whether considering the Central Station, shopping, or some of the sights. The size of the city and the cost of a taxi ride makes this less relevant than in other cities anyway, unless you are on a tighter budget. The ambience is really nice. Traditional layout is mixed with beautiful modern furniture and... More

We stayed here just one night to have the Ryokan experience before leaving Kyoto. We chose this one because it was close to Kyoto station to catch a train the next morning. We enjoyed our experience but thought it was a bit pricey for what you get. It's lovely and modern but you get the Japanese experience at the same... More

This was one of many places I stayed on my Japanese Honeymoon. This ryokan was located a short walk from Kyoto station on one of the alleys. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. It was very rainy when were were there, and when they noticed we only had one umbrella they wouldn't let us leave without a second one.... More

Izuyasu is centrally located: only 7 minutes walking distance from the Kyoto central station). The moment you step in you are instantly immersed into the traditional japanese zen spirit. No shoes, no shouting, no busy receptions. Tranquility rules and efficient service. The staff is extremely helpful. We managed to speak quite a lot to the chef and the owner of... More

Excellent ryokan. Nice traditional wooden building, great room, quite big for Japanese standards, with even a small garden. Very well located at the center of the city. It offers a pure japanese experience with meals served in the room (excellent), typical common bathroom, bed consisting in a thin futon laid on the tatami floor, and so on. Very friendly staff... The owners/staff made every effort to make sure my stay (first time at a ryokan) was a pleasant and comfortable one. They were friendly and welcoming. The Ryokan Izuyasu is the second Ryokan I have stayed in and the only I’ve stayed in in Kyoto. The staff was very friendly. The inn is located in central Kyoto and is only a 10 min walk from Kyoto Central Station. The hotel has a great traditional feel but our room was a bit more basic than I expected... More
