Not the newest hotel in the city. The rooms are small and a tad to narrow for a tall 193cm person like myself. Prices are pretty much the same around the city so I would recommend staying across the street at the "Mystay". The food is not bad if you get a meal included in your stay.

I found hairs everywhere (shower, floor, table...). Cigarette smell. No wifi. Super expensive for what they give you! My impression was that this hotel was a very bad copy of any Toyoko's hotel. The location was ok. The front desk clerk was kind. In general my stay at this hotel was not good, I would not recommend this place to... More

This hotel was very easy to find, close proximity to many cafes and shops, and walkable to such areas as Pontocho and Gion. Check-in wasn't until 15:00, we arrived at 14:00 o'clock and they wouldn't budge, so that was a little annoying. Room was clean, albeit shoebox sized--the two person bed may have been a bit of a stretch by... More

This hotel should really be called the "Neutral Expression Hotel Kyoto Shijo". It's like most mid tier hotels in Japan. Small, clean, but kind of run down and smokey. The main reason I gave this a 3 star review was the breakfast. It sucked so bad. Now I know western breakfast in Japan is normally just a disaster, but this... More

We stayed 3 nights in August 2014. Hotel is very well located – it is central, on and near main streets, major bus stop is across the street, main subway lines are just down the street. It is easy to walk and to take public transportation to almost anywhere from this hotel. Restaurants and shops are nearby. We found the... More

OK hotel. A bit further ahaid from the city center, but still at a walking distance. The lounge was nice for a bite to eat. The staff knew some English. The room was not huge, but it was OK for a Japanese hotel doom.

We stay at the hotel for 2 nights in mid May (last week). Took us almost 30 minutes to locate the hotel. The hotel is currently having a face lift and there was not a single English signboard located anywhere around or within the hotel lobby. We had to go into a few shops, stop people on the street, asked... More

We stayed here for 4 nights. The staff were friendly and helpful. It's a good location if you are here for sightseeing. But I would say the rooms need updating. Especially the bathroom and bedding. Very 80s! Other than that, I can't really complain. For the price you pay, it is a decent hotel. Also, don't buy the breakfast here.... More

We spent our first of 3 nights in Kyoto at the Hotel Oaks Kyoto-Shijo. Given our stay was during peak cherry blossom season, this hotel was still a decent price for the room (made through bookings.com). The location is great, just 3 blocks from the nearest subway station, and easy to find being right on the main road. We had... More

This hotel is in urgent need of renovation. We stayed for 3 nights on the 5th floor. The room was tiny, the furniture was old, walls had stains on them. Bathroom was a cheap plastic unit, it did not look very clean - basic toiletries were provided. There was no air-con in the room, only heater and it was too... More
