We spent our first of 3 nights in Kyoto at the Hotel Oaks Kyoto-Shijo. Given our stay was during peak cherry blossom season, this hotel was still a decent price for the room (made through bookings.com). The location is great, just 3 blocks from the nearest subway station, and easy to find being right on the main road. We had... More

This hotel is in urgent need of renovation. We stayed for 3 nights on the 5th floor. The room was tiny, the furniture was old, walls had stains on them. Bathroom was a cheap plastic unit, it did not look very clean - basic toiletries were provided. There was no air-con in the room, only heater and it was too... More

Stayed here for 3 nights during our trip. The hotel is easy to get to from Kyoto station (2 stops by subway) and a short walk from the subway station. It's in a good location and even though on a Main Street we found the room very quiet. There is a bus stop handy but we enjoyed walking everywhere. Even... More

This hotel is located on Shijo Dori, a major east-west street north of Kyoto station. It is about a half mile from the river where many restaurants are located, and it has easy access to the Kyoto subway system a couple of blocks away. A bus stop is a block closer than the subway that also provides good access to... More

We've stayed here for four night, during our Japan-Trip. It's located right at the main street of Shijo Dori. Take the subway or bus from Kyoto Station. Even though the busses are slower, it's more convenient, because they stop not far from the Hotel. The welcome and check-in in the nice lobby was very friendly. The staff here does a... More

We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights in September. The location is great - on the main street, walking distance to a lot of sightseeing an to a lot of buses and subway routes. The service was great. We were upgraded to a bigger room without additional cost and the room was lovely.

It has a good location and friendly stuff. It's not new building, but clean and cheap. The hotel located in downtown close to bus stop. It's also not far from Kyoto Railway station. The stuff gave us a usefull map with all attractions.

Rooms not a bad size but could have been cleaner. However all linen clean. The bed/pillows were rather hard and lumpy. The bed hurt my hips lying on my side. Fortunately slept well however as the full days sightseeing in temperatures approaching a 100F were draining. Did not eat in hotel as on one day we tried breakfast bar closed... More

Very good Yayoi-ken restaurant down the street to the right. Close to subway and buses Close to shopping Had a good couple of nights here Wifi in room was excellent Out to the left and up a block was the best prepackaged bento type meals made in the small kitchen for 250yen. Supermarket close, small but well stocked

Good location, subway and bus lines near it. Easy access by bus to Ponto-cho and Gion. The hotel has good infrastructure and good rooms (although we smelt cigarette smoke in a non smoking area). We didn't experiment the hotel restaurant, but it seemed to be interesting.
