We booked this hotel 2 months ago from our travel agent as the ones near JR Stations were already full thanks to the sakura season. It's a bit off the beaten track, but once you get used to the complex transport system in Kyoto the location isn't too bad - it is right next to the Saiin Station of the... More

The hotel is in renovation - ask for a room floor 8 or higher - we had a executive twin room, although we had asked for a double or queen - the single were so huge we could spread out or cuddle up - 809 I think it was - the bathroom is huge and luxurious the room very tastefully... More

The hotel is a two minute walk from a busy main crossroad with Saiin train station on the nearest corner. Unfortunately the train line is a private line therefore you can't use the Kyoto train pass on it. The surrounding area is nothing special. The hotel is located within a building with some fast foods shops and a fitness centre.... More

This hotel located a bit far from Kyoto Station. I got here by taxi, it cost me around 1000 yen. Unlike hotels I've ever visited, this hotel was like a hotel inside a building. The hotel itself was located on a second floor in the building. I forgot what type of room, I booked, but it definitely a nice one.... More

Spent 3 nights at the Rhino hotel which was booked by our travel agent. It is not centrally located but it is just 2 minutes walk to the subway. The staff was very friendly. They helped us to transfer our luggage to our next stop with no issues. We had wi-fi in our room and the connection was good. Also... More

The hotel is located reasonable in the city - also with respect to using public transport. Service is very good. Hotel room was not so exciting, but acceptable. Breakfast was good, but the service lacked finish. A couple of examples: it was easy to spill coffee and it would run out on the whole table (no tray beneath). The trays... More

I had a very pleasant two-night stay at the Rhino Hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful and breakfast included a wide range of hot and cold options. My room was very large and comfortable. Even if the hotel is not right in the centre, it is perfectly connected by both bus and tube to the main attractions of Kyoto... More

the staff are very helpful and friendly, the hotel is slightly out of the CBD so had to travel in to see places of interest and meeting points for tours, which is a inconvenience when travelling with a young child. no wifi in rooms only in lobby. does have a family mart across the road and a great restaurant underneath.... Staying in City Center

Neighborhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
