It was a public holiday weekend and many hotels were fully booked so we didn't have much choice. Rhino was a decent enough hotel. Rooms were nothing to shout about but clean and with free internet. Heating is central but it was so hot, we had to turn it off. Thankfully, they had a small fan/humidifier which we could leave... more

We have very much appreciated our stay there (5 nights in room 708, from November 1 to 6, 2008): - good smell, non-smoking room and floor (7th) - clean and large twin room with free LAN Internet - good breakfast buffet, choice of American and Japanese food - very friendly and helpful at front desk, English is usually good -... more

Was very happy with Rhino Kyoto. Good location (near nishioji shijo station - a major bus station) and also well located near a subway (though subway in kyoto is nowhere near as good as the bus network - in my opinion). There are some good eateries around the hotel though its about a 5-10 minute bus ride to downtown Kyoto.... more

Pro: - clean - next to bus stop for all the tourist destinations (you can buy the pass at the reception) Contra: - not in a intresting or central place - the train stop close by is not covered by the underground pass, so do not bother. From the station it is quicker and easier to get there by bus... more

I booked 3 nights through HotelTravel.com at $108 CAD/night (just a bit more expensive than the $97 CAD/night advertised on Rhino's website) after contacting the hotel directly and being told it was booked. I was a bit nervous at first, but after booking I confirmed with the front desk and they assured me they in fact had my reservation. I... more

The Hotel was in a nice busy area close to the train station with plenty of convenience stores and eateries nearby. It is in quite a residential area. We found a really good Kusihage restaurant less than a minute away with a great fun, welcoming atmosphere. We ate there twice (unfortunately the name has been forgotten and we only have... more

Excellent location well served by public transport. Friendly front desk. Our double room was HUGE by Japanese standards. Yes, it's a fair old walk downtown, but the buses are easy and you're also spitting distance from the subway which runs late. The front desk will sell you a daily bus pass for Y500 which is good for everything in the... more

ACCOMMODATION: The hotel is old but some parts were newly renovated (i.e. carpet, hallway). Beds are old but not too bad; door lock is still using keys rather than smart cards and most of all NO AIRCONDITION DURING THE COLD MONTHS (i.e. winter and spring or maybe whenever it's cold). I guess because of the "Kyoto Protocol" that they decided... more

Although this hotel was a fair walking distance from the main shopping area, it was easiely accessable via the metro - only 2 stops ! Staff were very friendly and the room was large and very clean. We stayed on the 5th floor (room 515) and found that the road noise was a little annoying when motorbikes roared by into... more

We were 1st time visitors and had no idea what to expect. Hotel was very clean and the "triple" room was adequate for our needs. Very attentive staff. Pillows are thick and hard! Bring your own! Close to a station to catch the train/subway/bus. Some of the desk personnel didn't understand English very well, but you could usually find someone... more
