I had a very pleasant two-night stay at the Rhino Hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful and breakfast included a wide range of hot and cold options. My room was very large and comfortable. Even if the hotel is not right in the centre, it is perfectly connected by both bus and tube to the main attractions of Kyoto... More

the staff are very helpful and friendly, the hotel is slightly out of the CBD so had to travel in to see places of interest and meeting points for tours, which is a inconvenience when travelling with a young child. no wifi in rooms only in lobby. does have a family mart across the road and a great restaurant underneath.... I cannot say enough about the Hotel Rhino. I got the room at a good price via Expedia. The hotel is very modern, staff is extremely friendly and professional, room was large (by Tokyo standards), amenities were excellent and the breakfast was very good. Room had good LAN connection but no Wi-fi at time of review. The fitness facility (extra... More

The hotel is very good, the staff is efficient and helpful No wifi in the rooms, only in the lobby (which, nowadays, is a weak point!). The rooms are large (not like in Tokyo...) Breakfast is slightly expensive (around 2,000 yen). If you want to go to down town (Gion, Pontocho street), or visit temples and parks, add 1,200 to... More

The room was very clean and a decent size. The staff were all lovely. Western breakfast was limited. The hotel is a little bit out of the centre so it's a decent walk to Gion but there is always buses so use them..! Overall we were happy with our stay and would recommend this hotel.

Rhino Hotel is centrally located and within walking distance of the Saiin Station and about 15 minutes, (1200 yen) from Kyoto Station. Within a 1/2 radius there is all types of restaurants, stores, (7-11) with ATM and bars. Shopping is ok, but the Teramachi is short cab ride away. There is also a pickup for many of the visitor tours.... More

Mixed feelings about this hotel, it is located very close to a subway station however not really close to any of the main attractions so there wasn't much to see on the street from here. It was clean, but very basic. On the first of our 5 night stay we were placed on a smoking floor, which was not the... More

This is the second hotel on our Japan trip. Basic hotel with decent size room (we had the largest room on the executive floor). But hotel does not provide any "extra" options. No room-service, no coffee or black tea or milk - we asked for some but was told to go down the street to buy at mini-mart. Cafe in... More

We were in a room on the 9th floor which meant we could see quite far across Kyoto. The bathroom felt like an insert room (had a step up) and the bath felt a bit compact, although still decent), there was also a separate lounge area. The only snag with the room was that it was tricky to get it... More

I stayed here whilst travelling round Japan with my son. A middle of the road reasonably priced city centre hotel but very close to all the buses and tubes for getting around Kyoto. Very helpful staff (make sure you get a bus map) and a good breakfast. We were on the top floor and got a very light decent sized... More
