Right next to the station where you can take the bus or train to anywhere. Rooms are decent size with everything you need. Good wifi reception as well. Its a bit pricy maybe for the budget traveller but you can really save a lot of energy without all the hassle in search for your hotel. I definitely recommend this hotel... More

The hotel is very close to the main Kyoto train station, which made everything great. The staff is really friendly and greet with you with so much politeness. The great thing about this hotel is they let you keep your bags there before check in or after check out so you don't have to carry everything while you go sightseeing... More

We have group of ten so we had a tough time to find six rooms at the same time. So when we found this little hotel had six rooms available we didn't think twice to book it. (We made the booking back in April seven months in advance) We have no expectation and we have prepared ourselves also. Once we... More

As far as the hotel goes, this is quite a busy hotel with the standard Japanese style of room, compact and small. Still clean and staff were friendly enough. Overall, as we were using the train station a lot, as one should in Japan; we love the location. Only about a 5-7 min walk from the station. Tip: We didn't... More

This is a no frills 3-star hotel. Managed to request for a bigger room at an additional USD20 per night. This hotel is geared towards the japanese market, so Google translate comes in handy when dealing with the front desk. The hotel is within walking distance to Kyoto station. However, due to this, expect a bit of noise when the... More

The hotel is about 10-15 min walk from Kyoto station & the bus terminal, had some trouble finding it at first because it was in one of the side streets. The rooms are tiny! The "semi-double" is smaller than single rooms in many other Japanese hotels. After opening our suitcases on the floor there was hardly any space to walk.... More

We're usually fine with basic rooms but this was a difficult stay. We had 3 nights here. On the positive side, location is good (about 5-10 mins walk from Kyoto station). However this is the smallest room we've stayed in. If you're on your own it's ok but two people with two bags don't fit. We had to wedge one... More

The location is very good and convenient its 3 minutes from the railway station and 15 min from the main attraction street. There is a hop on hop off bus which is also near the hotel The rooms are really small but we managed It's a 3 star inexpensive hotel so it's a good value for money.

Plus: very good location, decent room standard Minus: price quite high, our friend got told wrong price when booking, second friend was overcharged for the room and had to complain to get agreed rate. In the morning we asked about luggage sending service which was confirmed, but when we wanted to send at 6pm they told us we should have... More

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighborhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
