2 days in Kyoto to see Sakura. Since it is Sakura season, really difficult to book a hotel with good location at reasonable price. Location: Shijo is a place to stay because it is in the middle of temples, castles, food markets. Most importantly, there are two subway lines (Kyoto subway and Hankyu subway) stopping in Shijo and many bus... More

This hotel is really accessible from the subway Shijo station and within the walking distance from the city centre of Kyoto. The location is a main matter for myself when choosing an accommodation, so this place is very ideal, I would say. As the hotel itself is located a couple of blocks away from the main streets, the traffic noise... More

Now this came as a surprise...tiny little room that ends as it begins (i guess most of japan is like this), yet very efficient and you ask for it and it is there....a nice bed, all the neccesities, a microwave across the passage, tea maker, hot water, toiletaries, a writing pad, phone service, night pyjamas and a free LAN connection.... I stayed at the Via Inn Kyoto during the Cherry Blossom Festival. I found the hotels rates very reasonable and that was one of my reasons for booking with the Via Inn. The hotel facade seemed small, but the hotel was spacious inside. It was clean, bright, and decorated beautifully with items from traditional Japanese culture. The staff was very... More

I made reservations via email three weks before for a double room, non smoking. No problems of any kind. The room was considerably big for Japan, clean and modern. We stayed one night, I think they made some renovations. The location is great, its 3 blocks from the two main avenues, in a quiet street but close to the main... More

this hotel is in a quite side street near the intersection of shijo and karasuma. if you know where the laque building is, this hotel is two streets behind it. walking distance to the shops / restuarants on shijo-dori, gion quarter. accessible on two subway stops and several bus stops along karasuma-dori and shijo-dori. if you like japanese groeceries, you... Hotel functional, but basic. Rooms small, no wardrobes, 3 coathangers per room and some hooks. Rooms were clean. We stayed 6 nights and had to live out of our bags as no room to unpack. Would be ok if touring and looking for a stop for a couple of nights. No bar - but many restaurants and bars in the... More

This is a no frills hotel but it's very good value considering the location, quality of room and the period we were there (cherry blossom peak period). The room, though small, is clean, bright and functional. The reception staff were very helpful though their English ability may not be that good. Most of the guests staying there seem to be... More

I found the location very handy. Of course the room was small but this is to be expected. Hotel was clean. nice breakfast included and staff was helpful. Some spoke better English that others. I was one of only a few non Japanese there. Close to the big market and the staff directed me to a street/alley with lots of... More

My wife and I stayed here while on a business trip to Kyoto. It has a great location right in the midst of downtown, and is surrounded by many good bars and restaurants. Our room was spacious (for Japan) with a good Western style bathroom. OK breakfast and good coffee each morning. The staff were really nice and helpful; for... More
