The better ryokan we stayed was full during our last night of visit so we moved here. When we came in, we were greeted by the strong smell of oilment. Also had to leave shoes before entering the ryokan (?!??). This place is basic, no frills and definitely not as impressive as its high rating. Futon was thin and it... More

- carefulness and polite staff - clean room - resoanable price - close to Kyoto station and Kyoto tourist information (only 2-3 blocks from the hotel) - simple onsen (and it not clean , I saw many hair in the onsen bathtub ! )

Hotel is only 5 minutes walk from Kyoto Station. I stayed there for 2 nights in Japanese style room. Room was comfortable good enough for 2-3 people.Staff are very polite and willing to help. No breakfast but there are a lot of coffee shops and convenient stores around.

Or more of budget style. Good enough imitation with futon and yukata, just no in-house maid and no breakfast. Room was comfortable enough, but thin walls that you can hear the neighbors. I appreciated having a coin laundrette onsite, but limited number. Someone actually took out my clothes out from the dryer prematurely and used the remaining time to dry... More

We stayed in a Japanese room, 3-8 for one night. I must say I am glad it was only for one night. Friends and the travel agency told us we had to experience a Ryokan at least one time. So we did, the location of the Ryokan is perfect: as we came from Tokyo by JR-train we could walk with... More

When booking on line note that there are western style rooms and traditional Japanese rooms in this "hotel". There are actually 2 buildings, about 1 small block apart. We didn't see the western style rooms. We stayed in what was referred to as the "Annex" in the Japanese style (Ryokan) rooms. Don't be put off by use of the term... More

I went to Kyoto for business trip with my colleagues in end of September 2014. It was a very comfy ryokan for business trip people, very clean and the staffs were very welcome and helpful. My colleagues and I were really enjoy staying there, sleeping on traditional japanese style beds and had free green tea in each rooms. The location... More

All the descriptions provided were correctly met. The amenities were all as promised and the staff were very polite and helpful. The location is great, very close to the Kyoto station, there is enough place to park the bicycles upfront and we could leave our bags there while we explored the city. There is no breakfast provided at this time... More

Stayed here with a friend in late October 2013 and found it to be very reasonable, clean, and the staff welcoming. The traditional Japanese breakfast was excellent and, if you've never tried it, you should. To those complaining that it is expensive, a ryokan just doors down was double the price. Japan is expensive, so this was a good price... More

I stayed in this ryokan for 3 nights. This is a true Japanese inn experience, with tatami mats, yakata, small table on the floor, etc. I had a private bathroom. Everything was very clean and the building was well-maintained. The owner was lovely and and spoke English. The ryokan is less than a 10 minute walk to the JR Kyoto... More
