If you plan to visit Tokyo and would like to stay at a hotel that is not so close to all the nightly hustle-bustle, this is the place you should book right away. The interior, I mean the guestroom, is much more spacier than most of the hotel rooms throughout Japan. It's clean, comfortable, and the front desk staff speak... More

We went there in the Gion Festival so the city was very busy and so it was the hotel. Maybe that is why the service was not as impressive as in other hotels we visited in Japan. The wifi didnt work... we had to reconnected every 5 minutes. The room was small as in all Japan but clean and confortable.... More

My family and I booked 2 rooms for 4 nights . The rooms were roomy By Japan standards and beds surprisingly comfortable. The hotel was well placed for the bus and family mart . Liked it so much we stayed on for an extra night . Friendly staff and Asahi in the Vending Machine . Loved it .

Have stayed several times in the last two years. The hotel is using a very dynamic pricing mechanism, which means that prices for a room in the same category can fluctuate widely across dates (often in the range from 40 to 200 USD!). When your room is priced close to the lower end, this hotel is a superb choice, as... More

This is a chain hotel of a seemingly quite popular brand in Japan. My overall impression is positive. The hotel is very clean, the hotel staff helpful, the rooms of adequate size and well equipped. Threre was really nothing to complain about. The hotel is easily accessible from the Kyoto main station (5 minutes by the subway + 10 minutes... More

Luckily we only stayed 2 nights here. We had a double room on the third floor, facing inwards. The windows were frosted and only opened partially on to a view of towering buildings. The room was small and dark with little natural light, and was very depressing. We immediately requested a change of room, but were informed that this was... More

After a week of staying in AirBnb locations with friends, it was a pleasant experience to check into this hotel and have a solid, clean, well functioning room with which to rest and relax after long days of sightseeing. It isn't over the top, but is a budget friendly and convent place to stay for hitting the town (which is... More

Closest walk is from Shijo station (on the main Karasuma subway line) or the Karasuma station (on the Hankyu Kyoto line), with both stations connected anyway. Absolute great location because if you're coming from Osaka, the Hankyu Kyoto line connects you from the main Osaka Umeda station for Y190, as you're paying standard fare on the hankyu line even though... I stayed here at the start of June 2015. I paid for taxi ride to the hotel as I had broken the handle on my suitcase, but a bus ride would be perfect. ( if I remember correctly, it is number 26 bus from Kyoto station, at 220 yen) My check-in was smooth and the staff spoke good English. My... More

What a good place for the cost. Not big, rooms, but comfortable beds, great staff, clean rooms and good amenities. Also close to all the action in Kyoto. Would definitely return. Buys a bus pas from them and you are away.

Staying in City Center

Neighborhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
