The Meriken Park is located on the pier and within walking distance to Habor Land food and shopping area. It's got a beautiful view of the water and gives the feeling of being on a cruise ship. However, the rooms are cramped and smells of tobacco. The carpet is very worn and dirty. Unfortunately, the hotel is very full and... more

I stayed 3 nights at Kobe Meriken Park Oriental Hotel duirng a business trip in December 2008. Overall the hotel is very nicely kept. The staff was exceptionally helpful, given my inability to speak Japanese. The rooms are smaller than USA hotel rooms, but are large by Japanese standards and are fully equipped. The restaurants are a little pricey and... more

We attended a family wedding in this hotel. It is beautiful inside and the staff were brilliant and very tolerant of our lack of english. The food was excellant but we always got a shock when we saw the bill! There was a shuttle bus to take you to and from Kobe. The rooms were disappointing in comparision to the... more

Read reviews describe how nice the hotel is so decided to book this hotel but it's a mistake. Problems started from making reservation; I checked hotel website, in their japanese version you can book room directly but not in english one. Hence I wrote email to the hotel and stated which room type and rate I want as shown in... more

The hotel is built in the shape of a ship in Kobe's port. The public transport links aren't great, but if you don't want to walk from the nearest station (15 minutes or so from Motomachi), taxis are quick and cheap and there is also a shuttle bus. Having said that, even though it is relatively far from the central... more

The hotel is new and clean, trying very hard to be posh. There were a lot of families with small kids and package tourist group from China. The breakfast buffett was really good (Japanese & Western style). You need taxi to come back from town (5-10 min). Nice view from the room. In spite of their effort to be classy,... more

We really enjoyed Kobe and would recommend it. For a few days by the sea and away from the metropolis' around. However, if you have an aversion to noise, poor service, or very expensive restuarants I would stay elsewhere. The hotel has a pleasure cruiser docked on the left hand side facing the sea. This works on approx. three hour... more

The hotel is a great bet for Kobe. It is by the sea as a floating cruise ship and all the rooms have a balcony overlooking the sea or the city. It is near all the marina stuff (including malls and restaurants) and if you don´t want to walk the fifteen minutes to the center, they have frequent free buses... more
