Its not a very new or swanky hotel. Some of the rooms are not as good as others. The loction is great. Right down the road from the eki (train station) and a couple blocks away from Odori Koen (Park). The Ramen shops right outside of the hotel on the main road are great.

We stayed here for 3 nights. This hotel meant a lot to me as I used to come here in the 1970s as a little girl with my dad for tea in the hotel lounge area. It has been completely refurbished since then, of course, and is a lovely top class hotel. Our room was spacious by the usual Japanese...

This is one of those typical large hotels where your experience depends a lot on what room you end up in. I clearly ended up in a lesser room. (As I was there on invitation to a meeting, I didn't select this hotel personally, nor had any say in the room booking.)
A few key issues that did not meet...

I stayed here for 3 nights will attending an international scientific congress in Sapporo. The comfort rooms in hotel are excellent. A small issue that could be a large problem is the inability of most of the staff to communicate with English speaking guests. One of the managers Mr Mori speaks excellent English went above and beyond to help me...

I have been staying at Sapporo Grand Hotel for a few times. Every time it was a pleasant stay. Convenient location between Sapporo station and Suzukino, walkable distance to both stations. Reception staff, as in most Japanes hotels, is very helpful and polite. Depending on which wing you are staying, some rooms are larger and renovated than others. There used...

Most important tip is that there are several types of rooms so book with caution. Originally, I booked a regular room which looked like a typical Japanese hotel which means not so good. However, I changed it at the front desk to the COMFORT floor rooms after I did a bit more research on my train ride into Sapporo Station....

The hotel is located centrally with many important areas situated close the location. The hotel is expensive, however the facilities inside may not be 5 star. Not to recall the fact that hotels in Japan are expensive though. If you are wishing for a nice hotel to stay, this is recommended! However there are many other hotels nearby which you...

I took my mother to Japan to visit relatives and to see this part of the country that she had not seen before. I was very concerned that I would select a hotel that would not be so nice anymore, since it is one of the older ones.
We were both quite pleased. The staff was excellent, we were upgraded...

The best part about Sapporo Grand Hotel is the location - about 3 blocks south from the main train station and most of the large department stores (Daimaru, Loft, OIOI), and whole lof of electrical bargain stores. Another 3 blocks south of the hotel is the main city park with TV tower, its good for a short walk if the...
