I read from tripadvisor and booked Sapporo Aspen Hotel for my recent trip to Sapporo. Indeed this hotel is just a 3 mins walk to the JR station. We stayed here for 6 nights in December 2008. What an excellent hotel. Clean, no-frills but excellent all round. Service was good. We found the coin operated washer and dryer useful as it saved us the trouble of hand-washing our clothes. Costs just 100 yen to wash and 100 yen to dry (per 30 minutes). We booked two triple rooms at the Sapporo Aspen hotel for our party of 2 adults and 4 teenages for 6nights. I stayed there for 5 nights in a twin-bedded room, due to a business trip. The hotel is nice and very centrally located (3-minute walk from the JR station, also close to Hokkaido University).
